Musky Fishing anyone?

Cool, you are not too far away at all, practically neighbors! Good luck post some pics.

 

Steel leader a must, but I have dumb luck and caught a few without. They are a lazy fish it seems, catch them on tube jigs or whatever really. They like an easy meal, anything that floats by they seem to go after if they are hungry. I remember catching a 9 inch bass, was realing in easy. All of the sudden the fish takes off the other way and wasn't stopping for nothing. After about 10 minutes of fighting with the bass or so I thought finally get it up to the boat. This big ass musky does a flip and takes off, and I say dam lost that one. Was a great fight, so just finish realing in with that 9 inch bass still on. That musky about bit that bass in half. Was one of the funniest things I had happen while fishing.

 

10 4 will do. Hopefully the fish of 10,000 casts will help me out a little!

 

Been reading about a lot of guys use heavy flour leaders like 130#

Guess i am spoiled living up North in Canada . Fishing is out of this world good .
What I sacrafice to live here ?
Summer is short
Winter is loooooooong and cold . The money is good where I work but there are no supermarkets . All our groceries are shipped in . Vegetables are shriveled up and we mostly eat frozen food when I dont have a chance to grab dinner off the docks
The fishing is fabulous never knowing what you are going to catch or what size .
In 2 hours I catch well over 100 fish winter or summer
Is it worth living here ? I dunno ?

 

I just couldn't take the cold!! brrrrrrrrrrr. I live in VA and I think it gets a little to cold for my liking in Jan - March

 

I usually fish for bass, but when the musky are hungry they hit on anything we use for bass. I usually end up using a steel leader because the musky are over populated in the Susquehanna river where I'm at. They are like a dam shark, go after anything when they are hungry. Be careful if you do catch one, don't just reach down to take the hook out of their mouth, they will attack you. Those teeth are like razor blades and will cut you to the bone.

 

I have scars to prove that fish bite not only when they are on your line .
A word to the wise . DO NOT wiggle your toes in front of a Muskie

 

Talked to an old man the other day at the river and he was saying the same thing about losing all kinds of lures to them. He said he's been fishing the river for 30 years and he hates them lol

 

Yep that's when you catch the dam things, when your not prepared. I told you I have dumb luck though and brought a few in only because they got the tail end of the lure.

 

Saw the click bait title and I bit lol!

Cave Run Lake here in eastern KY has some killer muskie fishing. I've only been a few time with my granddad, now he's too old. Only ever saw one fish out of those trips. I couldn't get it to bite, but it followed up on my lure about 20' from the boat, then stopped and turned broadside. I swear that thing was at least 40"+!

Anyway, holler if anyone comes this way to the lake. I graduated with a smokin hot chick who's a guide and know another guide shop down there as well.

 

The worst !
When you have your limit of walleye on the stringer and the darn Muskie rips your stringer off the boat .
