I like working nights, but I can't ever get more then 4-5 hours of sleep(if I'm lucky), and I sleep in a blacked out room. When I come off of nights, like today, it's kind of a wasted day off. I sleep in the morning, but I'm so lethargic and end up being lazy the rest of the day.

depends. i cant kill mine because the schedule never stays the same, they always change it every 2-3 months because the flight load changes, and im not senior enough yet to hold the 75 or so lines that dont change

I gotta get at least 6-7. When I was younger I could stay up partying all night, and go build shit all day long. I can't do that anymore. I have a pretty labor intensive job though too, so I'm usually pretty exhausted. Evening shift I can get 8 hours and feel great.

As a 3rd shifter for 14 yrs, and a 2nd shifter for 4 yrs. I feel like I'm always in a catatonic state of laziness. Like a feeling of taking a handful of downers every day.

I just roll with whatever I can get. Even on the weekends. Guess I'll see what happens when I have my schedule change here soon. I always aim for 6 hours at least though. Never happens, but I give myself the opportunity.

so, im very afraid i may have done some internal damage to the focus. it seems at the last event, after i stuffed the car into a 4ft ditch obscured by tall grass, that one of the upper oil pan bolts backed out and let a good portion of the oil out of the engine. and, by some miracle, that stupid bolt was laying on the 1/4" lip of the oil pan like it was supposed to be there. im gonna have to get some brake clean and clean up all the sprayed oil, and put some more in and see if it was just leaking from what one spot, or if ive got bigger problems. I also completely wrecked the lower radiator support in the same incident, so that will have to be replaced. and i need to finish removing the A/C compressor, as i think with the open ports on the back some dirt got in them and now its locking up and causing belt squeal

That's Sunday for me, my ONE day off with my wife.

I try like hell to get up no later than 2:30 in the afternoon, but a lot of times I don't get to bed until 9am or so.

I think I do at least a fairly decent job of at least appearing chipper, but I feel like I'm in a perpetual fog.

I can get by on 4 hrs of sleep (BARELY). 5 hours is always appreciated, and if I get 6 I do pretty good.

Between night before last and today I got right around 10-12 hours of sleep - I haven't felt that good in months!

I try to sleep til noon-1 on Fridays then be up for afternoon/night with the Family but we're usually in bed by 9PM because our toddler is very active. Sleep "normally" fri and sat then try to get a couple hours before work sunday night after the munchkin goes to bed. switching back and forth is likely killing me...

Don't know why I haven't seen this thread before.

I work 7p-7a. Oddly enough, I only got 4 hours of sleep because I had to stay over for a meeting yesterday. Today, I also happen to have a fence getting removed/installed, so I'm not sleeping for a while today. Woot. Time to open up the garage and work on the truck while the crew attacks my fence.

As far as sleep cycle in general. I try to stay up as late as I'm comfortable with the night before I work. Since I work 7p-7a (medical), I'll generally stay up until 5a. I'll watch a movie or play some games (PC). So far it's been working well. I switched to nights about a year ago when I took over a supervisor role.

I generally work 3-4 days in a row and then have anywhere from 2-7 days off depending on my schedule. My rough spot is the day I try flipping back. Best thing I've found so far is to just get sleep when I get home and don't try to tough it out. I'll then wake up after 6-8 hours of sleep, interact with the wife, play some games, mow the lawn or such and then try to go to bed by 2am in order to flip over to a day walker schedule. My wife knows that the first day is a wasted day and not to schedule anything important if she wants me paying attention.

Right now, I'm into Smite and some Space Engineers. I like some lesser known single-player games as well when I just don't want to interact with others. Those are games like Don't Starve, Oxygen Not Included.

Only type of games I'm not really into are the sports games. I don't need a digital version of football, ice hockey, basketball, or the like.
