I'm confused. If you are sticking with the stock Tacoma tube why do you need to buy anything?

Nope. Actuator is fixed and is confirmed to be working nicely. Internal electrical connectors were soldered, three "spring" connectors and contacts were cleaned with alcohol and all the little gears were cleaned and re-greased. It bench tested fine and when engaged, the actuator actually can be heard moving over to the correct place.

When 4WD is engaged, the DS will rotate, but the PS will not.

So the actuator works, but you are saying the shift fork is not sliding over properly? Did you reset the shift fork to an unlocked position before you put the actuator back in?

I believe it slides over properly. And yes I did shift the fork over to the groove that it is supposed to rest in.
When I engage 4 wheel drive, I end up in 3 wheel drive. The PS front won't rotate.

I think I had two separate problems. Both at the same fcking time.
ADD Actuator problem and an internal thing wrong with my tube.

    That's my theory.

But who the hell knows. :notsure:

Also, I don't know how long my 4WD system has been a problem, because the dash lights were always acting normal when I engaged 4H, 4L and back to 2H.

I do know that it was pretty tricky trying to do AAOA this past weekend with 3WD  :muscleflexing:

If that wheel is not spinning at all then that collar is not engaged. You should be able to pull the actuator, manually move the shift fork over, and all should spin. If you moved it back into the normal resting position, and you still don't have it spinning when you engage 4wd then the actuator may still be the culprit. Or you moved it into the locked position and it's unlocking when you engage 4wd. (not a hundred percent on that last theory though)

And when you say only 3 spin you mean while offroading or while all wheels are up?

I'll try looking at this again this weekend.

I'll try anything to save three hundred bucks on a new tube.

Yes, while all 4 wheels are up, the three tires spin while under driveline power. The PS front does not.

Same 3 spin while off roading.

P.S. both fronts don't spin at all if the front air locker is not engaged and the 4WD is rotary switch is "engaged." Not sure if this has anything to do with the problem.

When you pulled the actuator did you have the collar pushed towards the diff or towards the passenger wheel when you re-assembled?

I'm not sure whether the collar was toward or away from the diff. There was only one way the fork would go into the the collar. I am positive that I had to move the fork so it would slide into the collar. If I didn't, the whole actuator assembly wouldn't go into the hole.

Word. Well if you pull it apart again I'm told that the collar towards the diff is in the locked position and collar away from the diff means it's unlocked. Ideally you want to have the collar in the unlocked position when re-assembling if 4wd is disengaged.

I should be able to pull it apart fairly easily. I'm becoming quite the expert at it.

The bigger deal is pulling the damn 1/4" skids to get to the actuator.

A good place to start is to verify that the actuator motor is working.

    I'm positive that it is.

Before I installed it, I plugged it into the wire harness and physically watched the fork move back and forth while my wife was rotating the 4WD switch while rolling her eyes complaining about how I spend more time with the truck than with my girls.

I think I'm on her good side again. Today I changed the front brake pads of her Prius.
