OK... Assume you can get a TRD unit for a 4.0L gen 2 for about $3000 or so and then get it "stealership" installed for $500.00 - I was quoted that $ by 2 different ones...
If you get it the performance is awesome, BUT now your stuck on filling up with premium fuel all the time...:frusty:
    I had a gen 1 Taco with a 1st. generation TRD Blower for 11 years & loved every minute of it. Now I'm driving a normaly aspirated gen 2 with a 4.0 & a 6 speen & although it's nice, the 3.4 in my 99 was much stronger...:burnrubber:
    What would you do????
    THANK YOU!:)

Is an extra 5 bucks a tank worth the extra smile the supercharger brings to my face.......... Hell Ya!

Here is my opinion, I supercharged my old 97 Taco, and it was nice for about 3 years, then everything kinda goes south. You start having all kinds of issues. First of all, when super charging you have to get rid of all the extra air that goes through the engine. And the huge raise in Exhaust gas temps. So you really have to start by putting on headers, then the catback system, then the super charger. Then a new intake to give the compressor the proper air. Then you run into fuel starvation at higher RPM's so you have to replace the fuel pump or add a seventh injector and a controller for that. It really comes down to making the truck back into a daily driver with a higher output. Like i said it takes its toll on the parts that were not designed for 300+ hp. Anyway good luck if you have the cash and second car that you can drive when you do have problems. Toyota's, are far better to supercharge than any American made motor, as the are really underrated from the factory to get the high reliability.

URDUSA is the place, and if you have any questions, ask for Brian Trager, or Gadget, they know there Shit for sure. I got everything from them when i did mine. But i won't do my new one, that is what the Corvette is for!!

love my sc I would not go back yes its a 3rz but its sooooo much fun compared to what it was. Do it and be happy. its not a race truck, just fun. $5 more at the pump is well worth the fact that when you want/need to go you actually can and dusting the neighbors Ranger v-6 priceless.

If you think dusting a Ford Ranger 4.0 is a blast... then I guess do it.

But I say fuck no. Save that supercharger money and buy a damn sports car. Aren't SC like $5500?

I have my Taco and my '03 BMW M3. There's no way I SC the taco when it won't do anything close performance wise to the M.

Great debate everyone! This is why I asked the question! I knew I'd get some ideas & angles I never thought of.
Truth be told - I'd love to get a mid 90's MR2, but if I can't have a sports car at least I can have a sports TACO!:D:yay:
