    Not currently, but I am going to want to add the D29XL soon for when the truck is weighted down.

    RTT, bedrack, cooler, gas, 3-4 days of camping gear, etc, and I could use more spring rate.

    Check My Sig.
    Define "need." Understanding the weeknesses of my rig on the trails and the ways to address them is different from doing unecessary things to your rig do to the latest trend. (Not saying you specifically, I'm talking in general on the forums)

    You would get more down travel, yes but would would put the leaf in more negative arch on up travel causing unsafe/unnecessary stress. It's gain one-loose another situation. Look at the guy who bent his frame do to lack of up travel.

    I'm confused by this thread though. Are you specifically talking about running a 12" in the stock mounting location or with the BAMF relocation kit? I see the later would be fine but don't see great success with the first Im not looking at the numbers though.

    Personally, from my readings, I'm going 12" smoothie with the BAMF relocation on Dakars and Timbrens. NO SHACKLE FLIP.

    Right, just trying to figure out which is needed in order to run the BAMF shock relocation kit with the 12" shock:

    A) a shackle flip is really needed
    B) a shackle flip is needed but an AAL will resolve
    C) No shackle flip or AAL needed

    @JLee your two cents?

    I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
    I'm not a fan of shackle flips so i say no to the shackle flip. All that is needed to run the kit is the 12" shock. With no lift you won't have much up travel so a set of lift springs and shocks and correct bumps is all you really need.

    Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
    One thing that can't be argued here is @JLee customer service and product development. No shackle flip saves a LOT of work and still as @Acerwin showed provides significant flex (unmeasured). Apples to apples, you do trade off up travel by relocating to get more down travel. The down travel can only go as far as your springs will flex, brake lines will stretch and the shackle will droop. In the inverted position, the geometry doesn't allow additional options. Here is a shot of a truck with a shackle flip and longer shackle. It also looks more significant (again, unmeasured) than others potentially because of the high clearance rear bumper cut. It is all about what you want. It is all very personal and I don't have the time, knowledge, money, garage, tools or TALENT to do an SAS. Do I want it, hell yeah, but don't need it. I learned a lot about my truck and capabilities by doing the rear shackle flip. At the end of the day, it's your truck, enjoy it.

    I agree with the body roll argument, but I enjoy it and signed the waiver the day I removed my front swaybar as well. Lastly, a shackle flip is almost impossible to reverse back to stock. It IS completely impossible if you cut like I do, but pretty damn hard for even the good guys. This is probably the most significant factor out there for most of us.
