lol. I always read it as "yeah" because we aren't archaic.

I would start reading it as "yay" as you have so graciously pointed out as the correct way, if it didn't require explaining to each person that uses "yea" as "yeah". It's not worth the effort to correct.

 

I was just wondering if some of the more... particular people in this thread read it the way it was meant to be read or if they just swam down stream with the rest of the carp

To be fair, I do sound it in my head as "yay". I guess the "yea or nay" was why, from my old reading habits. But I had forgotten about that.

I'm particular about not letting my food items touch on the plate, and eating my fries before my burger.

 

I say yea for the main reason of I'm lazy and don't feel like adding the "H". Yea is so much easier to type than Yeah

this started to confuse me because, again, I read that correctly until I got to "h" and then went back and reread it incorrectly.

No, but I don’t get upset if my green beans touch my mashed potatoes

 

does this apply to all foods? where do condiments fall? how do you eat a sammich? do you eat pancakes and drink syrup? any kind of pie (crust and filling) or do you have no problem with a "dish" containing multiple ingredients as long as separate "dishes" do not intermingle?
