Lift-Yes but When

Pick One, I cant decide for myself. I have the 2010 tacoma 4x4 DC and want to lift it with some new tires. Should I go ahead, or put some miles on her first. Currently I have 2,500 miles

 

I say drive it like it is for a few miles. Put some miles on it while putting a little bit of money back at a time. Then get a nice lift kit thats worthy of putting on a brand new truck (not spacers)..... OR if you have the money to blow, go ahead and get a lift now. I consider the lift set up I am going to have once it is all complete to be a very nice set up, and it will cost about 3 grand total. Its all about what your wanting to spend. Are you gonna wheel it much?

 

but some. Do alot of hunting and have a lot of slippery trails.

 

I thought about it for three months and decided go ahead do it last Friday. I love it. 3" in the front and 2" in the back. Ride is little bit stiff - I like it and gas mileage seem the same to me. Stock shocks and tires. Planing on rims later on, don't know about tires - still fine to me and good shape.

 

Yeah your in the same situation as me. I hunt and fish all the time, and some of the places I go can be pretty tricky. Once I get my lift finished I know I will probably wheel a lot more. I think the OME set up would probably good for you. Theres a lot of people on here that stay on the pavement most of the time, but wheel occasionally with that set up, and love it. I've heard the quality is excellent as well. Heres the kit:

x2. Just my opinion, though. Drive it until you can be sure which lift you want and get at least a little money out of the parts/tires you just bought.

IDK, I can sometimes relate to impatience, too, though.

 

Replace the stock tires with good ones ( Goodyear Duratracs are my suggestion )
Then do your hunting and fishing, you will probably find thats all you need.
But if you deside you need one, by then you will have a better idea of what type.

 

i put a 3 inch lift on mine and absolutly love it! all i do is hunt and fish!

 

If you have the money now to do it right...go for it. If you gonna get a spacer lift...wait and don't waste your money.

I lifted about 3k or so.

 

If you want a lift you might as well do it now if you have the money. IMO

 

Get rear spring TSB, 5100s front and rear set at 1.75" and some duratracs (265/75/16)

Hows the ride with OME? Is it stiffer than stock? Honestly?? Even if you like it stiffer, just let us know if it is stiffer...

I had a lifted truck and like the softer, although, truck like ride. I like the suspension to take the bumps and not the truck...if you know what I mean.

 

if you get the lift make sure you know what you are doing!! Save some cash and do it all lift,tires, lights,winch (warn only) and Glock!!!

 

I have OME yes it is stiffer! but it ride good, it has a little stiff bounce, if i had to do it over I'd get the OME again!! It's the reputation!! of OME/ARB is awesome!!!!!

 

Same Miles as you. Go with a good lift no the spacers. I wanted one I could have on for a long time and daily driver.

 

Buy the most you can afford now. I pieced together my lift over a couple years and it just ended up costing more and I wasn't really satisfied with it.

I leveled the front end and got slightly larger tires; 265/70/17. Then I did the rear and cranked up the front a little more, got an alignment.

Went with larger tires, cranked up the front more and now I need another alignment.

The tires I took off still had tons of tread, but I wanted the larger look, which is what I should have got in the first place.

 

I had the 5100s on my 2006. When I bought my 2010 I thought I'm gunna wait to get a lift. Yeah right I couldn't wait. I was gunna go with the OME lift but I got a he'll of a deal on a brand new toytec ultimate kit with LR UCA for like 1250 shipped. But yes I agree with my 06 I just threw on something cheaper. But with my 2010 I wanted to wait and get something better.
