FRONT 2" LONG TRAVEL BATTLE

After doing research on a 2" LT kit that I can still use on and off road, here are the companies I have looked at and here are the pros and cons of all, please jump in with your photos and comments on the kit you are running and your experience with the kit!

TC race kit. Problem solved.

If you are doing stuff you need boxed uppers for, I'd like to see.

 

From someone that owns 2 rigs on TC 2" Race kits, I do not see how others can be getting over 11" travel on a +2 kit and retain 4x4. Unless that is a 2wd travel spec, and 4wd requires bump/droop limitations. My CVs cant even handle the full amount of droop on the TC kit, I had to strap at least the lower 1/2" of travel out to prevent bind.

 

Having a bypass shock shouldn't limit travel they will both have 8" of travel. What they mean by better ride quality is easier to tune perfectly and wont get shock fade as quickly.
I feel like either of UCAs will be fine or other stuff will brake and bend before those will.

Every time someone ask me what I think if LT kits this is what I always think of.

I guess it depends... The all pro is the cheapest, but are you ever going to put a 2nd shock in? My friend runs the +2 All Pro and he loves it. He has more of an overlander rig, but he can keep up with me.
What I did with mine was wait for a decent used kit to come up and Vola I own a Total Chaos lol.

correct me if I'm wrong, but I think TC uses Polyurethane bushings. and if you like the Kar Tek limit straps, Baja Kits also comes with Kar Tek limit straps

 

TC offers Heim Joint and Urethane options. Heim is a couple hundred bucks extra.

yup, they offer heim joints but as far as bushings go, they use polyurethane.

 

Being a street driven truck, If you care about NVH then you should know that Delrin is even less compliant than Polyurethane. But nobody talks about NVH when talking about race-oriented suspensions for good reason.


Good comparison though, I have been comparing +2 kits myself as well for my upcoming build.

Talking with peeps within the industry, Total Chaos has it down when it comes to figment with these vehicles. They've been around long enough to know what works and doesn't but from what I've heard and seen, TC's fitment is great.

 

TC followed closely by Bajakits.

All Pro is out for me since I will be using the secondary shock mounts (other than that they are a great option for less cost)

Solo is out because I refuse to use heims in place of a bushing.

 

What is NVH?

 

Noise, Vibration, Harshness.

Industry jargon for how much road noise/bumps ends up in the cabin.

I would guess that it's because the LCA already has adjustment through the alignment cams, so heims aren't really needed. Having heims on the UCA gives you another source of adjustment if you can't get the alignment specs that you want with just the LCA alignment cams.

 

Nah. Use heims to get rid of the lower adjustment.. set it and forget it

 

I went with a tc race 3.5 and I thought it was a solid kit. I know a few guys who have the baja kits that had less than favorable experiences, but were eventually made right I believe. As others said, the all pro kit is cool, but won't be able to support bypasses which to me at this much coin would you really want to limit yourself for a few bucks? I think solo makes some kick ass stuff and I hope to upgrade to their boxed spindles to accommodate my tc kit. That being said, tc and baja are likely your safest bets from big name and solo is really good all around with their products and figment. Sometimes I wish I considered their 4.5 kit due to that amount of travel, which doesn't apply to your dilemma. Just make sure you check for all your parts before install no matter what kit you end up with.
