Hey guys. When pulling a steep hill, how many MPHs would some of you allow the truck to drop before you will downshift. For example, going 55 up a 7% grade in 4th and traffic kills momentum and slows down to 50mph and slowly keeps losing speed.

Use your judgement to keep RPMS around 2 to 3k. If it was me and I was climbing at 7% I'd shoot to keep it around 2500 to 3 and shift as needed

    Disagree

    I got a 16 OR MT and a 17 PRO MT because that’s how I could get a 4door MT

If I could get a 4 door MT in lower trim, i would have bought that :)

There are plenty of SR owning members on this forum (not this thread, but this forum)

Modified the level of gas in the tank
Work it out the other way. What RPM is too high for the grade your are climbing, in context with your traffic conditions w/r/t the lower gear you are in.

I like high revs in this configuration as opposed to borderline lug rpms...Tourque is way more immediately available, and you won't drop speed!

I thought the SR5 came in a 6mt, I'm not entirely sure how the SR and SR5 come equipped as I really didn't invest much time in looking at them

You could always buddy up with your local car rental company and see if they'll order it for you

I ended up downshifting to 3rd at 45mph which is 2800rpm. was not sure if it was safe to try to accelerate any further without downshifting again.

If the won't go up the hill as quickly as you'd like it to, grab a gear that will. Are you pulling a trailer? Taking a drink? Eating a sandwich? Is it snowing? So many variables.

In my case I was unloaded with only me in the truck. One minor issue I have is the feedback from the throttle on this truck, I have to push it further than every other vehicle I driven to get the same amount of response. During situations like the one I've been describing, it leads me to feeling unsure on if the truck is capable of performing what I want it to without straining something.
