While I was down in SLC this last month I tried to find time to go look at it but it never worked out. I think that would be a sweet rig.

A little inspiration for the next few weeks.

    Win a Cairn Box!

Should’ve done this earlier in the season, but better late than never. Lets get trails cleaned up before the snow gets here this season and covers up the garbage.

What: Over the next three weekends, when you are on the trails, hiking, biking, offroading, climbing, etc, pick up some trash that some dirtbag left behind. On Tuesday, October 24th I’ll randomly select two winners to receive a single Cairn Box, @getcairn with neat outdoor gear.

How: Post the picture on Instagram with the three following rules:
    1. Location
    2. The hashtag #Cleantrails2017
    3. Follow me on Instagram @ aero3685

Each user will receive a single entry but multiple cleanups/posts are always welcome!

When: Before Tuesday, October 24th 2017. I'll randomly select two winners and contact you through IG for shipping address.

Why: Because trails are much more enjoyable when you arent driving past plastic bottles, shotgun shells, and spare tires. And when its already clean, the problem children might think twice about leaving garbage behind next time. Garbage is one reason why trails get shut down for all users. Shout out to a great local small business Odin Designs @odindesigns and odindesigns.com who does contests like this to keep trails open...and inspired this.

Who: Anyone with an Instagram account and who lives in the US or Canada.

I’m currently on a bit of a road trip, and will keep pumping out awesome pictures along the journey! You can follow the trip on Expedition Portal as well:

Have a question for some of the mechanics. So I rebuilt it and fired it up and it spit white smoke which I figured would happen for a short while(min or two) to burn off anything that fell in etc. It ended up spitting white smoke for maybe 10 min or more when I took it on a little test drive to see how it drives etc. when I got back it had stopped. I let it idle for another 10 min or so with no smoke.

My question is, Is it possible to burn off stuff that long or did it stop because it got to temperature? Plan on firing it up in the morning when it's cold to test it but wanted to hear from you guys.

Pretty impressed with myself. Never tore into an engine that far before but came out of it feeling less intimated about doing it again.

Hmm that's a pretty long time. What's the exhaust smell like? That'll be the big give away. My supra didn't smoke unless it was cold out.

Have to check tomorrow on the the smell. Fired it up tonight when got back and no smoke that I could see. It was dark. Some water came out the pipe. Ran it up the highway and got it up to 70, felt gutless with the auto. Have to try ECT mode tomorrow.

Before I worked on it the thing was spitting smoke like it was laying contrails so that's what I'm comparing it too. It's better than it was, but I'm not 100% convinced yet that it's fixed.

what all did you do to it?

Just put on a new HG? Did you flush the coolant system and drop the oil pan?

Yeah the auto is way gutless compared to the manual. ECT doesn't really help haha just changes shift points and timing of the tranny.

I did not flush. Just put in Toyota MLS Headgaskets, intake, plenum, exhaust, and valve cover gaskets. Put new plugs and pulled the coil packs from the parts truck and threw those on there. About it

Did the cold start hold your hand over the radiator fill and watch in the reservoir for bubbles. Found bubbles, I suspected the heads were warped but in my anxiousness decided to put it back together. Should of sent the heads to a machine shop in riv. More tear down experience ahead :).
