    Hi Guys,

    2009 Tacoma 4x4 V6 ext cab.

I am on the road right now, (In Northern Canada, 2000 miles from home) so I'm pretty limited in what I can do. I have a multimeter and some basic tools.

My left turn signal stopped working today. Everything else works - the 4 ways work, the right signal works, but when I turn on the left, nothing. Nothing on the dash, trailer etc.

Bulbs checked, fuses checked, I am thinking it is either the turn signal switch or a bad ground somewhere.

Can someone post the wiring diagram for the turn signal system? Or if anyone has any suggestions, it would be very much appreciated!

    Thank you,

    Dave

Do you have left turn signal on the trailer? Just for fun. Unplug the trail connector and test the left turn signal.

Ok sounds like it's the switch on the steering wheel. Don't see it being anything else.

If you can get the turn signal switch out clean the contacts and see if the works. Should be a Phillips screwdriver.

Did you get the spiral cable recall done?

Turn signal doesn't go through the spiral cable. If it was a defective ground for the bulb the hazard wouldn't work either.

It could be a defective flasher unit.

I know the spiral cable operates the cancellation of the turn signal. I know because I messed mine up and my turn signal won't turn off after making right turns. I have to manually turn it off.

    Thank you gentlemen!

I have not had the "Sprial Cable" recall done. (first i have heard of it actually) but the horn does work. The whole truck is flawless except this turn left turn signal.

You are are recommending I take apart the steering column, remove the turn signal lever and clean the contacts?

HAHA Roland79 good one, except with my 8' trailer, nobody would see my arm signals from the rear.

JimmH, hey thanks for the diagram. Funnily enough, I replaced the flasher relay about 3 years ago when the 4 ways quit working.

What kind of trailer wiring harness do you have? Stock oem or an aftermarket one?

Aftermarket. I installed it myself (soldered and shrink tubed) with the connections made inside the rear quarter panel. It has been in there about 6 years.

Might want to just double check that nothing is rubbing or grounding out there.

I will for sure. It was done pretty robustly, I remember wrapping everything in electrical tape after all the connections were made and then housing everything in split loom. But I will take off the rear light assembly and check. Thanks for that!

After some googling, sounds like it it could be the flasher, a fuse or the trailer wire harness. Try checking ALL the fuses, not just the turn signal fuse. One person mentioned that they had a bad "trailer accessory fuse" and another said they had a bad "gauges fuse" and another had a bad "horn/hazard fuse". Sooo I would just check everything with your meter even if they look good by your eye, check with the meter.
