Sweet. Last camping run of the season?

Sadly, I think so. I'll likely winterize after this trip and tuck it away for the winter. I have a lot of house projects for the Fall so my weekends will be busy.

 

Yeah, tractor guys are a lot like car guys; They're almost always willing to show off how their toys work/sound.

Edit- And there were some pretty radical differences in designs back in the day. Ford had what was basically a 4 cylinder car engine, John Deere had their two cylinders that ran in tandem (instead of being opposed for balance). And gasoline was expensive and difficult to find at the time, so some tractors started on gas and then switched to diesel or kerosene once they were warmed up, some tractors had a small pony motor that ran on gas and its sole purpose was to crank over the diesel, etc. Some interesting designs.

My little guy has been pretty luck I have to say. During the summer, my wife would take him to the local library on Thursday nights for bedtime story time. One day, leaving the library, there was a cop car parked in the parking lot. He wanted to go say hi to the cop, so the cop was super nice and let him sit in the car, turn the lights on, the works.

Then, a few weeks ago, we were at Stew Leonards (huge local grocery store), he was wearing a costume fire fighter's hate because my wife had just picked up his Halloween costume... we were getting food, and there were some firefighters there. They saw his hat and all commented on it, and told him they liked it and had one just like his. He was super psyched, so they told him to go check out the fire truck when we left. My wife took him there, and again, the works... sat in it, pushed buttons, turned on the lights, the siren.

 

That's awesome! My town does 'Touch a Truck' for the kids a couple times a year and the next one is coming up. They something similar to what you described, just open the doors and let the kids climb all over the trucks. There's usually construction equipment (loaders, backhoes, dump trucks, excavators), some people bring dirt bikes and ATVs, school buses, fire trucks, police cars, ambulances and some random antique trucks.

 

That's awesome! The town over form us did that this year, so we went there. They had wreckers, fire trucks, garbage trucks... he had a blast!

Thanks a lot Geoff! I can't take the credit though, as much as I'd like to. All credit goes to the wife to be honest. She's the one with an "eye" for fun activities for them, so I always say yes because I definitely want them to have fun, and want them to have quality time with us. During the week it's tough... work, daycare, etc... especially now that it gets dark quicker. We try to do stuff with them as much as we can, when time and weather allows.

 

I'm not planning on keeping the blue truck long enough right now
