Interesting. I will be curious to see what you figure out. Have you inquired to Bilstein on your question? That would be the best route. My guess is they might have already tested this option and know the reason why it does not work. My theory is the shock has a finite amount of travel. If a shorter spring comes close to bind on the upper notches, a longer spring will have the same issue on the lowest notch.

 

We do offer a couple coil spring options that will yield around 1.5'' of front end lift to 2.5'' of lift, designed specific for the Bilstein shocks.

Is this offer good for next month (Nov), and do you have 'soft' springs? I'm looking for comfort as a priority, everything else is optional.

Okay. bear with me as I'm still new here. This may have already been answered, but...I recently bought a new 2017 TRD Offroad Doublecab with stock 265-70R16 tires that look like street tires. I'd like to run 255-85R16 tires as I like that tall look. Will that size tire work on my stock rims? And will a two inch lift (looking at an OME setup on Toytec's site) accomplish the required lift to make it all work with no trimming?

 

A soft spring is not going to equal a comfortable right by itself. The valving and dampening of the shock would need to be tuned to the spring rate as well to complete a comfortable ride. Also with the rear being a leaf spring set up, you are never going to get as comfortable of a ride as you would in a vehicle with coil springs all the way around. Bilstein 5100's have digressive valving which some think give a harsher ride then a progressively valved shock. If I were you I would be looking at BOSS 2.0 coilovers or maybe the Eibach Pro Truck series coilovers. Keep your lift to a min for the best right possible.

I like it i got my 2017 driving it handles great

The question is with just a small lift can it still handle as it does now.

 

So I have the 5100’s with 887’s and the dakars in the rear. How do I get another inch?

 

Do a 1 inch body lift? or Can add a leaf to the dakars and spacer up front but you will need the UCA's.

 

How much lift has this given you so far? You might need to look into adjustable coilover to gain more up front or as @motogeek mentioned a 1" body lift is also and option.

 

I have the full 3” up front. Not saying I’m going to add the inch. But I just thought I would explore options.

 

Full 3" is about the max with just a coilover lift. You would need to go with a 6" drop bracket lift or a body lift at this point.

 

Good to know. I’m happy with what I have, it performs well. I did the drop bracket lift on my last one the first time around, wasn’t a big fan.

 

Going bigger on tire size can also give you a lift also

 

2017 Tacoma SR5 4X4

New 3rd Gen owner and just put the ARB/OME suspension lift. Overall ride has improved in almost every aspect. I’m very pleased with this setup and feel very confident with it. New rims and tires in the next week or two!

Just for anyone of you who were interested in the ARB/OME setup. Here it is

 

do i need extended rear 5100's with a single aal + 1" block. or standard length??
and what length extended ubolts would i need? 8, 10, 12 inch?

I have a question about the lift I am going.
I have 2017 DCSB 4x4 OR.

I am thinking to upgrade the suspension and lifting it a little bit higher.
I am looking at Bilstein 6112 front 2" and 5160 rear 1" or 1.5" block. Wheels will be 16x8 0 offset wrapping it 265/75r16 AT3w wildpeak 31.65" tires.

Question 1.
Do I need to drop my differential with this set up?

Question 2.
Can the tire shop calibrate the speedometer since I am going 1"bigger tire?

Question 3.
Is there anything else I need to correct or do so that it will run like a stock but with stronger suspension?
