Black bears eat garbage. They taste like what they eat. To each their own but its like the bluefish of the mammal world. Its greasy and not great by any means

Sounds to me like you've only eaten Jersey and Philly bears
I think you would change your mind if you ate a bear from way up North Maine Woods or British Columbia, Alaska ,Saskatchewan
    Big freaking difference

Was about to say something similar. The bear I had was from north central PA and it was amazing. It's taste will be hugely influenced by its diet @theHunter is dead on there.

It needs to be said that for any black trail there are certain required items. 33s and at least one locker, front and rear recovery points and a winch are the usual minimum requirements. And the Pit trail, although a blue, requires recovery points and a winch. And if you were on that trail in the wet, you would know that it is no joke.

This is why I'm staying off the blacks, at least for now!

I meet the requirements (except for a winch) and I still don't think I'd want to tangle with blacks yet, blues seem challenging enough

Agreed. I'm plenty happy with a challenge, but not breaking shit (yet). Gotta build up more experience.

That's a fair point. I don't necessarily know if they're end-all, be-all requirements though; it's surprising what a moderately equipped rig can do in the right hands and with good spotting. That said, it's still crucial to have recovery points and if not lockers and full armor then some of a disregard for bodywork...you can make it in many cases with some creative driving even if you don't have everything listed above (33s/armor/recovery/lockers).

In the wet, obviously it's a different story. I plan to run blues/blacks but if it's wet, I'm sticking to blues.
