No you don't need to but if you have leaf packs, yes it is highly recommended if you wheel. You can get away without it with this part from Headstrong Off Road: http://www.headstrongoffroad.com/store/p128/Maxtrac_Brake_Line_Extension_Bracket_w/_Carrier_Bearing_Drop_Kit_-_616800.html It also comes with the carrier bearing drop spacer  Kinda late for me since I already bought the OME carrier bearing drop spacer and Wheeler's extended rear brake lines.

Thanks for your input, you just saved my wallet some money. I'm switching to kings next month, and was thinking of switching the leaf pack as well.

Looks like my swaybar is rubbing up against the coil on the driver side... any remedy for this? Do you even need the swaybar? lol.

I thought the same, then I got 285's and they rub LIKE CRAZY. Let's be clear, to run 285's you absolutely need the cab mount chop.

You need the sway bar relocation kit or remove it if you wheel a lot.

Yeah I installed the relocation kit, and it rubs just with basic on-road use. Do I just need to shift the sway bar driver side a little?

With the kit it should push the sway bar away from the coils. Try loosen the kit and make sure both sway bar end are pushed forward as much as possible then retighten the kit.

Kings, 275/70/17, a few custom items, lots of Meso mods.
Haven't driven non-adjustable but I installed mine last week. With the adjusters set low, my sport drives so much better and smoother on the road. I know they can handle off road but haven't been yet.

EDIT: My truck came new with top spacer lift so I can't say if it's better and smoother than completely stock?

I know that the rear king shock setup, done right, requires a shock relocation kit (which costs a lot more money). So I decided to just go with some deavers and OME shocks for now. When I'm in a position to get the relocation kit, then I'll upgrade the shocks and do it the right way. For now, I should be fine. I've been told this is a pretty decent setup (much better than stock). Anyone have experience with a similar setup?

Night and day difference for on road and off roading for me. Soft and smooth for pavement then firm and solid for wheeling.

I've driven Kings with both adjusters and without.

I can already say the $500 extra or so for adjusters all around (as I recall) is money I'd spend again and again given the choice...at least for my wants and needs. Now, I run 700lb springs, so it's nice to be able to dial down for a smoother ride on road since this is my DD. And I also tend to drive like a bat outta hell off road, where a soft suspension is not as desirable for me. I need something that can soak up hard hits and keep me out of the bump stops as much as possible. My Gen1 with Kings and 700's sat in the garage until it was time to go camping or hunting, so the stiffer ride on the road was little more than an slight annoyance because I wasn't driving it on the street much. But the Gen3 is now a daily driver. Want a plusher ride on road.

Now if you're wanting decent on the roads, and decent in the dirt for slow work, I imagine it would be tough to beat a set of Kings with 600's or 650's without adjusters, and save a few bucks.

I didn't get adjusters because like a lot of people, once they are set they are often not used a whole lot again. It was even suggested that I don't bother from a vendor. I got UCA with the savings.

Same here; I was told from a vendor that the adjusters are not necessary if you dial in your setup correctly from the beginning. Apparently there is a running joke among vendors regarding the adjusters and how people usually set them and tend to leave them on one setting from that moment forward. Given that these shocks are used in competition setups, I understand why they would be offered. But for the way I'll be using my truck, it's overkill.

It's debatable but I strongly disagree on it not being useful. The standard ones are set pretty much in the middle of what the adjusters are. So unless you get it valved custom then your ride is slightly stiffer (not in a bad way since Kings is an overall improvement). And yes typically when people buy the adjusters they leave it alone as a daily driver which is all the way soft unless carrying extra weight. I personally felt a difference when in the middle and clicking about 10 clicks to all the way soft. Rides smoother on the road when it's soft. The advantage here is when you're ready to offroad, all the way soft is probably not the best choice so you would turn it to firm so your rebound is firmer. I say if you're already investing this much money might as well take the jump and spend the little extra to get that advantage.

I took a closer look and I think you're right, the whole swaybar relocation setup looks like it got nudged closer to the coil, I will need to loosen and place it where it should go. Thanks!
