Any ideas when there will be a “final year” for the 3rd gen?

I am thinking i will buy a third gen during the last year model. I have a 2004 (last year of the 1st gen) and it has been great. I’m thinking all of the kinks will be worked out on the last year of the 3rd gens too. Anyone know when that may be? Sorry if this has been asked before.

    Thanks!

It’s a bit optimistic, maybe “most” of the kinks I guess. If not, guess I’ll just drive the 1st gen till the frame rusts out :notsure:

Market is different now. I don’t think Toyota will do a 10 year generation this time around. As consumers continue to ditch small and midsize cars. This segment will continue to grow along with crossovers.

It will also become even more competitive now that GM and Ford are back. Jeep is planning a midsize and I’m sure Ram and another manufacturer (maybe Hyundai) will follow soon.

Toyota is already talking about a hybrid and other updates. So I don’t think this will be a long generation at all. I also think the upcoming refresh will likely be the most significant refresh has ever done for the Tacoma.

I'll go with the average lifespan of the 1st and 2nd Gen - 9.5yrs, or 2025.

I think 10-years is still the plan.

A hybrid may require a complete chassis re-design. Since hybrids will never see dirt, it will most likely be a complete different model called 'Taquito'. It will be low to the ground and similar to the Ridgeline. Basically a Prius with a bed. Many will convert, many more will puke.
