Im in IT. Part of essential staff. So I need to work on holidays or if its snowing, or if there is a hurricane (if the schedule falls on that day). No matter what. But then again, I live 6 minutes from work.

Speaking of which, Im going home for lunch. Work ordered in food (but it was Indian, so I refused to eat). I will just go home and have some leftovers. And watch some TV, and then come back in an hour :bananadance:

Expo means Expedition, i think. Youre building an expedition rack for what purpose? or just boredom?

so we're talking semantics now? lol

and that's just what it's called? it is my understanding that any "rack" that can support a roof top tent, and / or tools, hi lift, rotopax, awning etc.... was called an "expo rack" or an "expo style rack"

FWIW I got what you were saying, and got a chuckle out of it.

Little late to the party but I love my unistrut rack. Planned on doing aluminum siding and a fairing to make it look somewhat like a prisnu.

Definitely do the aluminum siding. I got some .125"x2.5"x72" online, rounded off the edges and bolted it on. Made a world of difference IMO.

I agree. Just been too busy. Been worried more about the cosmetics on it. Functionality wise, it's awesome.

Kind of want to do a flooring on it too, on the section behind the sun roof

It's just because I find the whole "expo" thing funny. Like let's be real, we're just camping and wheeling for a day or two at a time.

haha yea that makes sense yea it's not like any of us are "exploring uncharted territory in South America or anything"

but I thought that's just what it's called? lol that's what all the retailers are calling it... I guess it sounds less "mall crawler-ish" haha

I think it's just a marketing thing. Don't get me wrong, "expo rack" sounds way cooler than "bed rack" but I still find it funny. Goes hand in hand with the whole "overland" thing. However, I'm all for getting out and about, and if someone wants to call it overlanding, doesn't bother me any

Edit: and I think that's what David was making a joke about. Not poking fun towards you, but more so the naming of the racks.

no that makes sense... I wasnt upset or anything.... just genuinely had no idea what he was saying or what point he was making

and I see what youre saying about the "overland" or "expo" marketing thing

    a bed rack: $500
the same "expo / overland" rack: $700

I mean with the price of a good roof rack and the price of bed racks..... you can easily spend $1200

so I get the appeal of building your own on a budget

That is exactly what I want to do! I liked the ones with aluminum siding too. How do you have the front points attached to the roof above the windshield?
