I put the NGk iridium 9 in my truck and gas mileage and power totally sucks now. I’ve lost almost a 100 Miles to a tank. Anyone else experience this with these plugs? No other work was done at all. And any suggestions for different plugs.

Put in 6 Denso plugs, and did you do it or a garage? Not gapped properly maybe.

I did it it. Gapped at .043 from factory and I checked each and everyone of them before I installed them.

Thanks anyways.@unchained5150. I called to verify they were the correct plugs at Oreillys and they confirmed they were correct. Anyone have the correct prt# for the Denso plugs?

This seems to be a thing with NGK iridium. I remember reading about this issue less than a year ago:

When I had to replace plugs on my car, OEM was NGK so I just did a quick google search before I bought them. There were posts from several vehicle specific forums about lost mpg after NGK. But, for our specific vehicle, people seemed to do well and not have issues with them. Rather they had issues if they went with bosch or Denso plugs. So, I stayed NGK. Ours called for NGK platinum, bot iridium

NGK iridium does seem to cause some issues in other cars when I was searching for plugs. here are some examples I found when I was researching plugs to out in our car:

    https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-...conomy-after-brand-new-spark-plugs-wires.html
    https://www.civicforums.com/forums/...-mpg-performance-after-spark-plug-change.html

Maybe check the torque? anti sieze on threads can effect the torque on plugs, can end up over torquing. Maybe that's the issue? maybe back out the thread a little bit? quarter turn maybe, and see what that does?

My gas mileage went way down when I installed installed iridium plugs as well.

Probably because the plugs came with a supercharger.

From what folks here have experienced, stock Denso plugs perform the best.

stock denso plugs only!!! There is ZERO need for iridiums in the single vvti 1GR.

THE ONLY reason they run proper specd iridiums with the supercharger is the fact you have to remove the ENTIRE super charger body to change the driver side bank.... hence they run iridium for the longer change intervals.

The ignition system has to be designed for iridium to use them. The Tacoma is not.

I asked for NGk and that’s what they had in stock. He compared the iridium9 to the lazers and said don’t waste your money on lazers the spec exactly the same other than price. Anyways I’ll be putting in stock Denso plugs this weekend. Anyone with the part # so there’s no confusion. Not sure what others local parts store is like but mine is all young kids.. 18-30

Some Tacoma's are designed for iridium plugs.

The 2TR engine comes with iridium plugs from the factory. And it has a transmission dip stick. :)

Interesting, when I purchased my used 2015 DCSB 4X4 the plugs had not been changed at 36000 miles.
I installed NGK iridium LX plugs the first day and they are great. 21 MPG on the highway and great power.
