Just got back from a 2100 mile road trip from VA to ME and back. Twice I hit the mythical 400-mile tank, both with about 2 gallons to spare. Averaged 22-23 MPG during the trip (based on my first 2 tanks - have a couple more to do math for, but they're similar numbers)

Stock Taco, soft tonneau, kept cruise control speeds between 65-75. Terrain was varied from seaside to New Hampshire mountains. Tires inflated to 30psi (maybe 35, I can check in the AM if there's interest)

    Anyway, now I'm in the 400 club!:D

    Nice! That's pretty high for a 4x4.

Wow impressed. I'm lucky to get over 300 on trips. But it have a 6spd and I tend to drive around 80-85mph on the interstates. Im sure if I slowed down a little I might get better mileage but it doesn't matter much to me.

Damn. thats some good MPGs for a v6 4x4. With my lift and 35's I get around 18mpg on the highway/freeway at 65-75mph.

Thats nice I have bested at 19 with my 33's. Disreguard the 16mpg I have as an average right now I hauled a 16' trailor for some 18hrs. Bringing my average way down.

I feather my gas pedal, never drive it like a race car. My tires are also at 36 psi, I'll catch heat for that one but the truck feels to mushy with lower pressure. I also have a cap and my mpg went up 1 to 2 mpg after I put it on........

Yeah, i was pretty stoked to get that high for most of the trip. Here's the numbers in case you care. Some of the tanks were filled early due to areas traveled, change in plans, etc:
    Tank 1: 383.6 miles, 17.8 gal, MPG= 21.9
    Tank 2: 407.3, 17.5, MPG = 23.2
    Tank 3: 303.3, 13.6, MPG = 23.3
    Tank 4: 278.2, 12.3, MPG = 22.6
    Tank 5: 340.5, 15.7, MPG = 21.6
    Tank 6: 405.9, 18.1, MPG = 22.4

Trip total: 2118 miles, gallons total (from above): 95

    MPG for trip : 22.3

Trip total is closer to 2150, but that last few miles is after my last fill up, so I couldn't give an accurate gas usage there.

There has to be another factor at play here. Going a steady 65 on flat ground, in my beast, will only net 21.5mpg 75 gets me 17.5 mpg. I cannot fathom why your truck is able to get 20% overall, than mine can achieve while warm, and already up to speed.

Nope, no BS! Left it in cruise practically the entire trip. A few times I'd drop it into 4th gear for some of the mountains, and today was a lot of 55 & 45mph zones (the last tank of gas) which I'm sure affected it.

You don't believe me? Next time you've got a day to kill, come over with $50 and we'll burn a tank of gas on a road trip :) I can just make NYC from here.

I just did a round trip from San Diego to North East LA County and some city driving in between. I got 365 miles on the tank and drove it 10 miles after the light came on. I have 265/70/17 Duratracs so I'm pretty impressed.
