Trolling for awhile-great site, great info!!!

    Question....
Do I buy a used 15' TRD PRO with 7,000 miles or buy a new 17' TRD OR DC??? Price is just about the same.

Any help would be great thanks!!!

    Price?

Did you test drive a 17? Definitely take it for a long test drive.

I ran into a similar conundrum when I was ready to buy a Tacoma. The 2014 new was going to cost about $32k. Looking at 2011 or 2012 used models that had under 50k miles I was running into prices around $25-27k if I could find one. For that reason I decided it was worth it to buy new.

Your situation is different. You are looking at a difference between the most matured 2nd generation and the early years of the 3rd generation. The drivetrain is a bit different. If there is a single common complaint among the people that do not like the 3rd Gen's, it would be the power train. Complaints against the 2nd generation don't usually involve the power train. I've never driven a 3G, so listen to Dylon above - long test drive the new model with an unbiased mind. Then drive the 2015, if you don't notice a difference in the way the vehicles perform/handle then it becomes a value decision which is more black and white.

Test drive of course but third gen all the way. Nice upgrade that's for sure.

Why is it a trade down exactly? The interior and tech stuff along is miles ahead of 2nd gen. The only real thing a 2nd gen has over third is the auto.

    Jeff B..
I am actually leaning towards the 2nd gen PRO, I posted in the 3rd gen forum to see if you guys would talk me out of a 2nd gen PRO. I think I prefer 4.0 in the 2nd gen.

Let him justify why he bought his 2nd gen. Us third gen owners must be drinking the kool aid “since these trucks are utter garbage” (sarcasm).
