Nothing like projects a week before a big trip.

 

It's the same brand but not the same model. And yours is too new (too new to have all those cable issues really) to have any contractor or wiring issues. As you use yours more may run into the same issues I've seen with my 6 year old winch.

 

few bucks more and you could get synth line and not worry about the weights.

Had i know what your current cable shape is, id have never let you pull me out.

 

Well today I measured the width of the Tacoma front end from edge to edge because I need to put it on a car dolly on Sunday. Dolly has a width of 72" and Tacoma is 70.5" so that'll fit nicely. Hope the straps are long enough to secure these tires, should be fine though. Also did a trial run with the cruiser and trailer, also came out great. Stops great with trailer brakes!

IDK. When you are winching, safety is big man. Its a lot of stress on the truck and line and everything. I don't even want something to pop.

And while i didn't see the kink..from what i've been told, it is not minor. And i appreciate you being there to winch me out every time. But you shouldn't jeopardize your own rig and others with a potentially jeopardized winch cable..that's all im saying. And if i had seen it, i wouldn't have let you both times you got to use it this trip.

Oh my god the rims on the trailer... how much weight can the land cruiser tow? I know the 4 cyl Tacoma is capped at 3,500.

 

Yeah the trailer has some aftermarket mags from a newer boat trailer on it haha. The Land Cruiser is good for 5,500 with the tow package, oddly in Europe it is rated for 7,500. So I bet the U.S. rating is something to do with safety and braking as opposed to pulling power. Either way it seemed pretty happy hauling around the trailer and stopped like a dream with the trailer brakes.

 

Found the original window sticker for my truck when it was bought new as a company fleet vehicle. It was sold at the Fremont dealership about 5 minutes from where it was built at NUMMI. Kinda weird driving by the Tesla factory and remembering your truck was built there.

 

I'm guessing you're towing your truck to Arizona?

Ha funny you mention European towing capacities. Out of curiosity I looked up how much my 2000 E320 Sedan could tow - 4,700 Pounds Braked - but only in Europe. More than my damn truck, to my surprise. There was no official towing standard for them here. It's a lot more common for people to tow with Sedans in Europe, surprisingly. I saw a Prius the other day towing a flatbed trailer with a roof rack. The things you see in San Francisco...

 

Yeah, the truck will be on the back of the U-haul. Buddy of mine agreed to do the drive with me so I didn't have to make two trips

 

When are you doing the move?

 

Tuesday, going down I-5 through California and hanging a left at LA to go toward AZ. It's a really boring route but it is direct and fast.
