The lids are equilateral triangles and the frames have a +/- 1" lip. Since each side of an equilateral triangle is longer than a point to any part of the side, it would not fit through the hole.

if one edge of the lid is vertical, then its only sqrt(2)/2 to the 'other' vertex from the midpoint of the vertical side. thats 0.7 X the side. <plonk>(splash!)

I stand corrected... sort of. I get that the distance, 90° from the middle of one side to the point, is shorter than the side. I'm pretty sure they make the lip on the frame wide enough so the longest part of the triangular hole is shorter than that distance.

Edit: So distance "B" would be shorter than distance "A".

    IMG_0125.jpg

People suck and all the lids would be oriented at a distracting angle for drivers with OCD. Accidents are prevented with round lids ;)

Google said the triangular holes are too small for a worker to fit through when wearing a breathing apparatus.

I shouldn't argue though, I'm just a landscaper and feel like this:

The lip would have to be like 15% of the length of a side for that to work... maybe a little less if the plate was real thick.

heh, sorry for nerding out here... I'm an old software engineer, and I did a lot of low level 2D and 3D graphics programming in the 80s, 90s... although I've not done that for 20 years, I still remember practical geometry and trig pretty good.

I would have thought you'd lose flavor and texture by having it so cold. I might try the fridge, though. Ice is fine if you only use one cube. That's my recipe. Just dont let it sit long enough to melt.

I barely made it through high school and spell at about a 4th grade level but I was a underground utilities foreman for 10 years and all I know is round and triangular lids were the only ones that work. I only made it through pre algebra so I don't know the maths but the smarty pants engineers made it so that me and my semi retarded coworkers couldn't fuck it up. :notsure:
