Finally got around to getting my CB hooked up. I've got a SWR of just above 1 on Channel 1 and about 1.3 on Channel 40. I'm not touching it any more than that, at least for right now.

I elected to cut one of the blockoff plates in front of my shifter and did a panel mount setup for it (it's a WX 75) so I can plug the mic right now and remove it when I'm not actively using it. I've got a quick disconnect for the antenna as well, I'm pretty pleased. I may eventually add in a beveled washer as the antenna tilts forward a bit, but that's not the end of the world for me.

Yes, it's not centered exactly. Yes, it ultimately bothers me. But it fits perfectly.

I have a spare Wilson fiberglass antenna that I'm not using that was given to me by my uncle. I'm more than happy to give it to whomever is interested in it. I can check tomorrow if it's 3' or 4', but it does have a wire coming off of it, which is why I ultimately went with a Firestik since I wanted it to be a quick disconnect.

 

Pssshhh it’s the end of the season plenty of recover time.

 

I wonder if some shits going down, or if it was a test for a scramble... Cause they just launched like 5 F-15s at 6am... Normally for training they wait til at least 7

Im not 100% sure if it was 5, it could have been 4 or maybe 6? But normally they launch 3 for training during the week

 

Thinking maybe an escort for a commercial jet.

 

Possibly, they have been activated before to do that in Maine. I'm sure by mid day/latest the end of the day we will find out

Up until a couple years ago, I was never I bed before 1am. Now I'm usually tired after 9.
