Head Unit-iXA W404
1 Pair of 6x9 Type R's
1 Pair of 6.5 R's Housed in Q Logic Kick Panels
1 10" Type X Sub
Sealed Box, Fiber glassed inside. The speaker faces the rear of cab.
MRP-450 Amp for the speakers (under driver's seat)
MRP-M1000 For the subwoofer (under passenger seat)

The kick panels and doors are insulated with Dynomat. Let me tell yuh, the speaker volume kicks my ass! lol

Oh yeah one more thing, I have a remote bass knob in place of a blank factory "space" in between cigarette lighters. It's VERY convenient!

That's a good place to mount your bass knob and it looks perfectly centered and clean. Now to make it look a little more pro, find a really nice knob and a some of those rub on letters to say something like "Sub Volume" and "Min" "Max". Of course, there may not be enough room to do that and you may be fine the way it is. I will be adding a sub knob as well and your install gives me a great location to think about.

 

dang, that is a lot of speakers in an ac! i simple have 6.5 components and an 8" sub in mine and its loud!

I kinda like the way it is lol I think it's the best spot for a gain knob, but if you wanted you could install it under the steering column or to the left of it. I see you have a system thread, what are puttin' in?

How did you secure the deck to the dash? I have the same deck (ixa-w404) mounted with the stock metal brackets, but the the deck shakes & vibrates when I drive. It's only secured in the front by the 4 10mm bolts. Did you secure it somehow in the rear? Any help would be appreciated. BTW, I also have the metra kit.

 

How did you get the Type-R's to clear the front door's window?

Edit: Nevermind, I see you mounted them in kick panels

 

Are you happy with the HU?
Were you able to keep the Aux input on the dash functional?

Yeah my HU is great! It is strictly digital media, no cd player. I connect my ipod to it via my glove box. It is AUX compatible but I don't have anything hooked up to it at the moment. The navigation through my library is awesome. I can browse music by genre, artist, songs, albums, playlists, ect. Also my video on the ipod can be accessed as well.

The only complaint I have is that navigation and bluetooth are add ons, but the deck itself kicks ass. I'm gonna get navi and hook up my rear camera sometime in the future. Good luck with your stereo brotha! Looks like you've got some good equipment.

 

Well I have 6.5's in the kick panels but ive also got 6x9's in the doors. It was difficult to get em in, but they fit with some patience.

 

I didn't install the HU myself, but mine fits securely. With the right dash kit you deck should be flush and secure. I'd double check that you have the right hardware.

 

this is an old pic, but you can see where my sub gain module thingy is. its kind behind the sat radio in this pic. mounted to the coin tray thing, where the e brake would be on a manual.

but keep in mind, this is a old pic and im ashamed of how messy it is. the splitters are gone the wires are gone the sat is moved under the heat controls, the aux cable is into my dash ... ,much cleaner



oh yeah, how does it sound? i was thinkin about gettin an x-type, but i didnt cuz the stereo guy told me he has seen a few different set ups of the x, and he found they all sounded shitty. how do u find it?

 

Mine sounds great in its sealed box. My friends can't believe if only one ten.

Nice setup! Mine is basically just like it, but one step down. S-type speakers and an R-type 10" sub with the highest single DIN receiver Alpine makes.

 

Right on man, for the price those s's sound great!

 

Yeah, I wanted better sound than the crap factory stuff without going broke so I settled on that setup. The S-types I actually managed to round up for 1/2 off- only $50/pair from crutchfield!
