TRD exhaust is awesome. Nice mellow tone, not the slightest bit annoying. Perfect in my opinion

Glad to hear @Azianwind , Did you fix most parts up yourself? When mine got hit by somebody, I drove around town like that for about 4 months before I got mine repaired.

I finally got my exhaust dialed in. A couple weeks back I had a borla catback exhaust installed. S type as that’s the only one available. While it sounded good at times- deep growl and throaty , it was ridiculously loud at other times. Especially going up the slightest incline. Resonance was pretty bad too. I searched online a while and came across vibrant ultra quiet resonator. Wow....did that save the day. Truck is sounding much better. I’ve only been on 2 quick rides since install but man what a change! So far, really happy. Hopefully I’m as impressed on a longer ride. I was considering on going back to stock, or even having to fork more money for a TRD as I couldn’t stand the drone. Albeit it was light but I think I’m just sensitive to it as I’m getting older.

If you have an aftermarket exhaust which is too loud for you liking definitely look into it. Have a good shop to take it to as the space to install it in is limited. You can squeeze it in before the muffler and the first set of bolts, but it does require some bending.

I had the same issue with a Cat back MBRB....loved it at first but the resonance at mostly the low end got overwhelming....ended up putting the TRD Pro exhaust on....my second one....back to nominal again.....$822 later including installation....ouch!

Steve, was just the key and programming required or is a different module as well?

Did the dealer charge for the programming?

Was pretty simple. Hardest part was finding a brand new tailgate. I found a white one on craiglist and had a bodyshop paint to match the blue color. The step pad i bought on ebay. Overall it wasnt hard.

Most dealers are going to charge you, unless you happen to be friends with the technician doing the work.

Since I have the tech package, nothing more than the key and programming was required.

I just gotta say I am still extremely happy with my Gibson catback. And nearly half the price of a TRD exhaust. I was all set to buy a TRD locally for $599. Caught a good sale on the Gibson for $334. I figured I would try it and, if it was too droney or whatever, I would just sell it for $300 on CL and go get the TRD. Not gonna happen. I love my exhaust and is just the right tone for me.

I think with exhaust sound, everybody has their own preference and is going for a different sound I believe. I have the TRD catback on my 2011 which to me is very quiet and not a huge difference from stock. I have the MagnaFlow Cat-Back on my 16 it is definitely a little louder but I also have the AFE cold air intake with dynamic scoop, that probably has a lot to do with it. I really like the sound of it though, sounds like a much more powerful truck. I personally think it's a great combination, but like I said everybody is after a different sound.
