looking to hear what people have to say about the ride quality of the original Ko to the ko2. I looks like BFG only offers the new ones in load range E for the same size.

I’m worried that the 10ply will ride to harsh.

EDIT: My current 285/75r16s are D rated 8ply

I went from a 265/75 KO to KO2's in the same size due to road hazard warranty from Discount tire... ride wise they are both rough being an E rated tire on a light truck. I don't really mind it though. I've had E rated tires for the last 100K miles so I don't notice it. Road manners of the KO2's are better for wet grip/noise after time and the off-road performance is much better due to better side lug spacing. I would purchase the KO2's again. I have 22K miles on mine and should get another 30-40K out of them.

    P.S. I ran E rates KM2's prior to AT's.

Yeah my current set are 8ply 285/75r16s
So I’m curious If it’s a noticeable difference.

Might post this in the tire/wheel section for more traffic.

I’m running the KOs in 265/75r16s, and really like them, but will likely got for some pizza cutter 255/85s m/ts with my next set...

I'm currently running the 235/75r15 option on the KO2s and absolutely love them. 10 ply, 40 psi on hiway, 20 mpg with the 3.4L.

The 4wd capability are fantastic in the sandy utah desert.

On my old e kos I had run 24-26 psi to get a good chalk test and good tire wear.

Yeah, it’s a trail only truck now, and I like the taller, narrower tires for grip. I’m also hoping the 255s won’t need nesrly as much trimming as the big fatty tires do.

    Thanks for the reply’s

Anybody else go from the Ko 285/75r16 Load range D to the same size in E?

I’m also not finding many tires in that size in anything less than a E. Considering a great many of the customers tire manufacturers have are into the light truck/Jeeps you would think they would offer lighter tires. I mean BFG did for years but decided to discontinue it for some reason.

My opinion is, they're an average tire with a cool looking deign at a good price. They're okay in rain, great on dry pavement, great in snow (rare quality for an AT but useless to me where I live), pretty floaty and not very grippy on gravel and light dirt roads, and in mud they are not great (they pack up) I won't buy them again but I'm also not the average user. I bought them for when I was using my truck more mildly and I find myself regretting not finding something with a stickier compound and less busy tread pattern. They're great for someone who's going to use them as a daily driver tire though, they don't wear down (probably a contributing factor to their less than stellar gravel and dirt road performance). Also the compound seems to chunk when used on rocks and gravel a lot, its strange, chunks of the edge of the tires go missing after use. I wouldn't say they are too rough on the road though, they're just a thick tire so you don't need quite as much air to achieve good wear and on road traction. 32-34 PSI is all it takes.

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
I did awhile back. Have since sold the 4x4 truck. This old guy doesn't remember the load range. I got unbelievable miles out of the KOs. Last rotate they had 77,000 on them and were still good to go. The Tires Plus manager was scratchin his head and questioning his computer records. The KO2s wore pretty quick. If it was an offroad truck that wouldn't have been the case Im sure. With life changes it was only off pavement rarely.

I'm running 275/70R17's around 33psi on highway and 12psi on trails. No complaints here.

I liked my ko2 on my first gen. Only time I didn't was during heavy rains when the roads are covered in water. They would not cut the standing water.

I have no experience with the original KOs but my '04 came with E rated KO2s when I bought it and they do ride harsh, it helped to lessen the psi from 40 to 32. I wheel my truck a lot and in my experience although they are harsh riding, the E rated KO2s are indestructible. I put those little 31" tires through hell and they didn't look pretty when I took them off but they never let me down. That first set I had gave me too much confidence in them to go with anything else so when the time came for new tires I went the same route, only a little larger (265/75s as opposed to the stock size 265/70s).

They're tough but not tough enough to get over the old banana peel level grip.
