Can anybody tell me, >>> RIDDLE ME THIS <<<
Will Stock toyota tacoma skid plates from 2002 V6 work for 1998 4 cyl?
    any major diffs?
Does auto or standard shift matter etc? Extended or 4 door cab etc?
I have noticed possibly that the 2002 has 3 mounting holes where the 1998 has 5?
    anybody chime in thanks

I’m pretty sure they would be the same. As long as it’s a 4x4 or a 6 lug prerunner.

My 2004 has 3 bolts in front by the bumper, 2 recessed at the rear of the front, plate, 2 that hold the 2 plates together, and 2 more than mount the rear plate to the crossmember

    Why though?

If you have a line on one from a friend, bring it over and try it to be sure.

I tried to buy a skid plate that fit the 2001 - 2004 Tacomas for my 2000 and was told it would not fit.

Yeah, it should work, since the plates don’t mount to anything on the engine/tranny, so the 4cyl,auto thing shouldn’t matter.

I say do it (just don’t ship it!). If it doesnt fit for so e reason, swap it at a wrecking yard, or break out the hammer and welder and MAKE it fit, lol.

I'm at work right now, but I can check at lunch time. Around 11:30. It was from an eBay seller. He was advertising than for 2001-2004 so I sent him an email asking if it would fit my 2000 and he said there was enough difference that it wouldn't fit right. For the life of me I don't know why.

Do you have a local wrecking yard? I’d go there first before relying on an ebay seller...
