I thought there was a stickied post, but i am not seeing it. I am really just wondering if it is a pain to do the 30,000 mi change for the automatic trans myself or if it worth the $150 to just let the dealer do it. i remember reading that i had to use some wire just to jump something to be able to drain it.

FYI its every 60k miles. not 30k. I wouldnt worry about it till then.

That stated, @ 150 bucks for the dealer to do it, sounds like they are only doing a drain and fill, ~ 3 quarts of 12 that the full system holds. FYI cost on a quart of the proper toyota ws fluid is ~$6 a quart.... retail is around 18.... and you know sure as shit a dealer aint giving you stuff at cost unless you have a hookup.

And finally when it does come time to do it at 60k miles, do it yourself. Its a pretty easy process, just a lil time consuming. I recently did it and followed this

also check my last post on the very last page about an easy way to fill.

Is it a drain and fill or or a trans flush where they push all the old fluid with new fluid ?

    Flush.

I chose to do drain/fill at 30k intervals. Keeps all the additives fresh.

But have have a drain plug and a dipstick, so it's pretty easy. :D

Drain and fill will only remove what's in the pan.
