I would like to know the answer to that too. I am eyeballin' some portable talkies. Baofeng seems to be a obscure brand that gets great reviews and is cheaper than Midland or Motorola, although those two names are tried and true.

Baofeng is great! That's what I'm using for HAM. A lot of other HAM operators I know started out with a basic baofeng handheld from them. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I have a hand held cb. It worked well during this last outing. I have to take the time me to get my Ham license one of the days.

Perfecto. Just wanted to make sure we have some sort of communication in all the trucks because service out there is spotty.

Thanks! I want something I can use at the beach/resort in Mexico so I can put the phone away for a change. Would be primarily comms between me at the bar and the wife on the beach or another situation like that. LOL

But I was also thinking it would come in handy at the house if I am out doing chores on the property and she wants me.

For something like that I use these, and I've been very pleased with them!! Not sure how much more they are than the baofeng.

Yessss, I have a fresh axe I want to break in. Do you have a chain saw?

Edit: could totally break in the winch too to pull trees away.
