These are a little bigger than my originals. Also, these are heavier.

So I just looked at the nitto website. They have 265/70-17 load c now. Is that new? I don't recall seeing that last week.

Just got the ridge Grapplers on my jeep. MUCH better traction than the BFG's they replaced.

Ok, I just got off the phone with Nitto. They were released Oct. 1. They don't even have all the specs listed themselves on their spec sheet but, what he told me about Nitto tires and Load Ratings is that their Load Ranges are actually not Ratings ???????

    So when you see
LT265/70R17 C 112/109S vs LT265/70R17 E 121/118Q the numbers in red are the important numbers. Now, he was confusing me a little because at first he said they were both 8 ply tires and that the only difference was how the plys were laid out. That contradicts everything I was ever taught about tires. But he did go on to say that those are old school methods of measurement and they don't use that system anymore. I wish I could have recorded what he was saying so I could repeat it verbatim. Then he said he didn't have the specs on the new C but the E on the sheet is a 10 ply. I think what he was trying to tell me was that their tires are not actually C, D or E but those listed ranges are like the old school method that everyone understands easier. I guess.

It is odd that the 265/70 C range is .25" taller than the E range yet the same exact weight. Ok. .01 lbs more
But the 285/70 is exact height and weight.
The 285/75 is the exact height and the E is heavier which makes the only sense to me.

I think we are splitting hairs here. I say if you tow occasionally (or all the time), or drive fast on the road (like I do all the time), go with E. I am happy with mine. If you need to air down and rock crawl, get the C. I bet you will not feel the difference between the two in the seat of your pants. I bet the MPGs will not be any different. If anything, what the guy failed to say was that the C range tire is a different rubber compound and if that is actually true, the C is likely softer and will result in lower MPGs.

It's a truck and will feel like a truck regardless which one of these these you put on in any size is my best guess. I honestly don't think it is that bad and would be more inclined to change my suspension to the OR shocks before I switch to a C range.

Yea sorry, the one thing I didn't ask is when retailers were going to get them, but he did confirm twice that they are in fact real, and it was not a misprint. I would call them (Nitto) on Monday and ask how long till they are available to buy. Maybe larger retailers will get them first. I can't see you waiting any longer than a month though.

Well my second choice would be the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac. I ran them and loved them in the snow on my 4Runner. I just wish they would have wore better. I would have them now. I can tell you this. I had those in a C and between those and the E Ridge Grapplers I run now, those were definitely softer all around. I was only pulling 16.5 mpgs on a good day though. Maybe I'm getting such high mpgs with the Taco because of the E's :notsure:

If these Ridge Grapplers suck in the snow they will be for sale and maybe I will try the Duratracs again. I was also eyeballing the Nitto Terra Grapplers. I hear the G2's are loud.

Why would you think they may suck in the snow?
