What are you driving now? Previous trucks- what did you like and not like?

Both are probably good trucks, but there are differences.

You will see some 3rd gen bashing in these threads, but most people who actually own one are satisfied from what I see on TW.

Another factor is if you plan on keeping the truck for a long time or will be trading it in a few years.

I don't buy used, even a barely used vehicle has a history- would rather take a brand new vehicle and break it in gently.

    Just my $.02.

Good luck and welcome to TW.

Everyone complains of the 3rd gen' s shifting but it will get better as the tranny learns your driving habits. Another option is to go with the manual trans. There are alot of very happy 3rd gen manual owners on TW.

My vote: 15Pro If you want AT, 17 if you want manual.

wheels tires kings glass fenders bumpers.... this would make a mini van look good.... just saying...

OP I would go for the 2nd gen, but if you're budget is high enough for mods in the near future maybe the 3rd gen isn't a bad option... frame would be newer at least.

Funny how most of those that say buy 2nd gen have 2nd gens and no real experience with a 3rd gen. Lots of posts from those that have owned both say go with 3rd gen.

    Exactly.

I am always Leary of 2nd gen owners who seem to spend a lot of time in the 3rd gen forum to bash these trucks without spending time owning and driving one. Those are opinions to be taken with a grain of salt. It's the very reason you won't see me give opinions about any other gen that I haven't driven and spend considerable time in as my opinion on that topic would carry no weight either.

Good luck OP with your choice.

Why? The threads cycle through the home page on newest. I've never once specifically clicked to go in the 3rd gen forum.

2gens are only if you can t get past the drivetrain complaints but if you can 3gens are so much better overall
