With this plugged in, I have to be on the "S" mode?

Or can I leave it on "D"

You can put it in D for normal factory Shift points as the SSP controller is not active in D mode....Or you can put it in S for the SSP Shift controller to take over and control on their Shift points. You can also still change manually in s mode and it will cancel the SSP and allow you to control

    Makes the truck livable!
I found the constant gear hunting and engine lugging Very annoying, and this little device has all but solved the issue. I came from a manual GTI, so the auto trans is a new feeling anyway, but Toyota really did a poor job in the drive-ability department with this trans!
Install was very easy and I hid it under the console. Instructions are clear and easy to follow, including the use of the V2 selections.
#1 seems as though it will be excellent for highway cruising
    #2 for all around driving
    #3 for towing.
A big thanks to DZ Custom Innovations, I'm not sure if I would have kept the truck without you!

In other words, it only works in “S” mode

Is the #2 setting the same as the V1 chip?

I think it's supposed to be. I ordered the new chip because it's only $12. I'm curious to see what number 1 does at lower speeds around town. I love my v1 now for long trips and mountain passes. Curiosity got me to upgrade to v2.

Pvillejohn. Remembered how to get anoying shift display changed. On steering wheel scroll to settings. Click on pop up display. Scroll down to shift position and uncheck it. That'll get you.

Do you have the latest one with the 3 different modes you can switch between?

You are like me and running 285's which totally screw up everything with the SSP. You need to put it in the lowest of the three modes, as that will essentially be like the "normal" mode if you were running stock sized tires. Kinda funky how it works with running the bigger tires, but with the updated version it solves that problem.

I honestly don't have a clue what version I have. I just ordered whatever was on the web site a few weeks ago. I assumed it was the latest and greatest....interesting.

From what I can tell ... not entirely. It seems to be a little more refined and sensitive to throttle input. For example, with V1 my truck would absolutely not shift out of third gear until 38 - 39 mph. With V2 it shifts in between 34 and 40 mph depending on throttle position.

Thank you for your input. I think I'll now get based on that. It will be interesting how this will drive when I get my gearing done too. Hopefully I won't need the SSP anymore.

Just filled up after having the SSP in the truck for the week. Love it when Fuelly says "Best tank so far!". Commute is 50-50 freeway and bumper to bumper traffic. Usually average mid 17's. Now I'm seeing low 19's. It's great when mods will pay for themselves. @dcz108 , again, great job and thank you!

Just got done test driving the V2 chip, Level 3.
    @dcz108
This is my 2nd upgrade chip...
Is Level 3 more on par with the first, original SSP program?

The only thing holding me back is that the instrument gauge cluster shows the gear position every time it shifts... Is there any way for it not to pop up every time?
