The motor has the power, but the auto definitely seems to hold it back with its constant up shifting. I did appreciate the low end torque of the 2nd gen.

No I don't mind rowing my own gears. I couldn't find a manual to test drive for comparison. Plus my wife can't drive one. Probably should have listened to my gut and ordered the manual.

Update on this since I was near my dealer so I stopped in. Good news:it's nothing, just the intake taking in a quick gulp of air when I quickly give it a little gas which makes sense going uphill and having to gas quickly to avoid rolling back. Tested it out by giving it quick, short revs in neutral and able to replicate the same sound. Bad news: I'm an idiot for not picking up on that. Just an FYI for anyone else who may or may not be curious in the future.

My wife can't drive a manual either, all more reason to get it. You won't be one of those who start a post pissed off because wife backed into garbage bins in driveway and broke rear tail light....:thumbsup:

Hey guys, I just heard an unpleasant scraping/grinding sound turning intostrip mall parking lot. I made the turn rather fast so I'm guessing my steps my have scraped upon compressing of the suspension however I do not see any signs of scrape on my steps?

That was the sound of your truck crying, going to a mall, instead of off-road.

I have the Sport with stock tires and thus don't feel inclined to go OR. But seriously, I got home and inspected my predator steps and mud flaps and don't see any signs of dragging so I'm still wondering where the noise I heard came from.

    I off-road with my Sport...

With stock tires, I can't imagine they rub anything. If you scraped the steps on a curb, you probably would have ran it over too. Any wheels have road rash on them?

That's a Negative on wheel road rash. I heard the noise going 15 mph as I drove over the lowered ramp section of the curb at maybe a 25-40 degree angle. It sounded like it could have been plastic being rubbed every time the body rolled side to side from the. I have inspected the steps, mud flaps, wheels and well liners and don't see any obvious signs of scraping.

I wonder if I add a thicker spacer to the clutch pedal, it would put enough pressure on the clutch to stop the TB chirp, but not slip the clutch.

Took it for another drive and didn't notice anything abnormal. I'm just trying to take good care of it,thanks for your concern.

I'm all for taking care of what you own, but you seem to worry a bit too much about it.

Did I tell you about the time my shifter wouldn't come out first gear and would grind.

I don't remember. Now THAT would be concerning. What was the fix?

I found a thread on here with a video of another truck producing the same sound going over a couple speed bumps.

your noise is the same as that vid, exactly??

does it do it clutch in or clutch out?

    has it always done that?

does it affect your mpg like with his truck?

cus that shit does not sound normal. my truck does not make that noise over speed bumps with the clutch out (foot off the pedal). there may be some mild flywheel noise with the clutch in but nothing like that.

Noise sounds exactly as in the video

I don't remember exactly but I think I I heard it with the clutch pedal pressed because I was making a right turn into a parking lot and preparing to slow down for a shift into 1st.

No, today was the first time I heard this noise and was not able to nor willing to try to replicate it.

It didn't occur to me to check MPG, I drove 10 miles of freeway home and refueled when I got home.
