If you only wanted to charge you'd only need C and D from the original post it appears to me.

@mutely thank you for posting this up! I have been wanting to do something similar for the exact same reasons. I was going to go to glove box, but your part list still applies.

Its not a charger for the ipod it's a retractable cable.

Seadog is correct, just use C & D. you might want to find a set of cables that aren't as long though as you'll have a lot of wire to bundle up, since there is no need to run them up to the headunit.

I installed the components in my 2017 last week. It's working like a charm and SO much nicer not having the iPod laying out all of the time. The added bonus is that the 3A chargers actually charge my phone an appreciable amount on a short trip.

    Just did something similar
Move USB port to glovebox tonmake room for a dual battery gauge, and added a dual usb charger to the glovebox to permanently charge my warn remote and power my crux/phone.

I'm glad you got some use out of the write-up. Mine has been working like a champ, I keep a USB re-chargable flashlight in the armrest now along with the iPod. It's so nice having somewhere to put my phone now that's not a dam cup-holder.

If you don't want extra USB ports, and can live with wires sticking out of the factory plug, or push the whole plug back into the dash and re-use the hole for another switch, it's a good cheap option.

my plan is to connect all of it behind the dash, I've done it in other cars as well.

I plan on using the old hole for a new charger lol

Good thread guys, thanks for all the added input. I'd like to move/extend the USB/AUX and one 12v outlet to the center console and convert the original location to 12V display plus USB charger.

Do you mean a voltmeter? I added one to the left hand side, next to the rear sliding window button. Handy for the day I want to temporarily add a gps or similar device to the driver corner of the windshield and not have wires dangling thru the center of the dash. I hard wired a dash cam and ran a hidden charging cable thru the vent so this extra port will rarely get used but I like having it just in case. I got mine from Amazon, it was slightly cheaper and prime shipping. They have the longer ones as well as the smaller ones.

That's the one I'm looking at though it would be sweet to find one with a disconnect near the console end.

That’s what I used. It extends both the usb and the 3mm jack in the plug.
You can see the 3mm plug in the pic above.

I used a $12 2 usb red illum jack in the back to keep my winch charged
