    ROFL! nice.

I used to do this to my co-workers, when I would offer them a ride. I used to walk over to a vehicle and stand by the driver door and just kill time. But, let them get in first then once they sat down I would walk away. They'd be like wtf.

What's up with you, When you post for help no one gives you a stupid answer, but when people post for help you give them a stupid answer.

If the keys was not in the ignition maybe he wouldn't have known about his starting issue. He did say truck won't turn over.

What's even funnier(weirder?) is I have taken my wife to department stores in the past in my old 1995 Blazer and have chosen to stay in the car while she runs in to buy something and have had two women on two separate occasions open the passenger door and get in my car. Boy, you should have seen the look on their faces.

I just don't understand what could have possibly went wrong. I tried both my regular key and the "grey" key, nothing!!!

It's supposed to be a factory immobilizer, don't think it's aftermarket. Keys maybe, but both????

Try flipping up that little tab next to your auto-shifter. Inside is a little button, hit that. Check all the fuses in the fuse box under the hood too.

My GF's pug chewed through my brake light wire going to my shell's light, anyway it blew the brake light fuse and caused the shifter to lock and I couldn't start the truck. That little button under that flap is the override for those systems, try it.

I can sympathize with you. It's happened to my 2010 for no rhyme or reason. Several times. Last week as a matter of fact.

    Too many mods to list
But did you check the Tab that he said? The Tab that is in front of the shifter bezel? What's under there creates the problem you have.

That's total crap. I've heard of this happening to other guys too, and it almost always ends up being a problem with the immobilizer, which makes me want to have the thing disconnected or removed. I have nightmares about being 20 miles out in the backcountry and having this problem. Even if you have a manual, you can't push start if the immobilizer goes bad. Toyota should install an emergency override for this thing somewhere .. and yeah I know that sort of defeats the purpose of it. But they could key the override.
