I had the power pack left over from another car after I sold it. I just brought it to a stereo place and they installed it for about 150. The speakers Im doing myself but the amp was a little over my head.

I'm with you on that - I'm a bit OCD on watching the video like 20 times and visualizing it all. In fact I was so worried about the door cable issue I just slid the door handles out of the door taking care to keep the cables locked in place. Not the "recommended" approach which is why I didn't include in my notes, but the door handles slid quite easily out of the door panel and I just left them hanging while I did the install.

So .. who has installed the 6 Kicker speakers and then later installed an amp? Just curious how much better the sound actually is with an amp added. I think mine sounds really good just running off the factory HU but curious as to how much better it could be with an amp added. ... after all, there is always something we need to add to our Tacos huh? :D:D:D

I'll answer my own question : I didn't fully snap the green cable back into place. It's a firm snap FYI.

Also make sure your rubber window seal is properly placed before buttoning everything back together. I didn't...

I believe that you'll get more fidelity at lower volumes. Depending on the source, I've noticed that at lower volumes the music doesn't always sound like it has full range.

Tks, I've owned Alpine decks and amps and have always done the install myself but it's a simple plug and play with the right alpine deck. Putting the Power pack to the Stock HU is a little different animal for me (1st Tacoma for me). I'm capable of doing the work just not sure how to go about it without cutting wires. Still looking for a plug and play wire harness.

Take a look at the 2016 BPP audio build thread. There should be enough information to make a harness so that you don't have to cut any wires.

So have you been able to get the door open? If so, how did you do it? I'm going to do mine tomorrow and seems like a couple people have made this mistake. If I forget to doublecheck and make the same mistake, i'd like to know there is a easy fix/solution.

I ask the same question, i even searched on www.crutchfield.com, no wire adapter for these stock dash tweeters. looks like I have to return these Kicker tweeters and start cutting wires!!!

check this out, these are the stock rear door speakers 3" mids

I was watching the oem audio video and thought that if you forgot to hook the cable and the door is stuck, can't you pop off the window control panel and slide a coat hanger up the door and fish it down... Then all you have to do is pull the cord and it will open the door. Would that be a solution???

You have the "premium" JBL stereo. I didn't know it had different tweeter connectors.

Grateful Dead Cornell ‘77 streamed on Spotify (Extreme quality setting). Give Loser or Fire on the Mountain a listen. They spent a lot of money recently to improve what was already regarded as one of the highest quality Dead shows ever. The sound staging is spectacular with this setup. And yes, my other obsession in Grateful Dead when I’m not tinkering with the Taco ;)

Does that mean that once you pop off the clip and take out the screw behind the door panel that the door handle assembly can pop off as well and come out so that you can slide the whole handle assembly through the actual door panel? I'm getting ready to do mine in a bit after dropping off my kid at school this morning. I'm being ocd about the cable as well. I'm sure once i'm finished i'll see how stupid this (worried) post will be. I'm just prone to breaking things. Lol

YES you will see it is VERY simple. You will see how the green and white cables pop out and when you go put them back on just make sure you push both back in till you feel them seat in. You will have no problems and at the end say "WOW, that was simple"

Thanks brother... I'll report back in a couple of hours. Gonna start with the tweeters, then rear doors to make sure all is well and move to the front doors. That way if i screw up with the cables, my driver door won't be stuck. Lol. I tend to get excited and want to finish quick. That's where i make mistakes. I'm gonna spend my time and double check everything...

I did it by accident and then rolled with it, but yes, the door handle assembly sort of unsnaps and slides out. If you aren't sure about how this works, I'd just follow the instructions in the video though and make sure the cables are connected properly before you reclose the door ;) Not too hard, but yes I can see it being a bit daunting for any of us who don't normally do this sort of thing ;)
