Yeah no second rig. I have a chevelle so that is my other toy. It’s a wicked truck for sure. I’m not tired of it by any reason. I’ve built it right to have it as reliable as possible. ........but that inferno tho....

 

I have a 69 Camaro SS convertible ...67k original miles. Love the chevells but that truck of yours by far kicks the 4runners AZZ !!!

 

But since I'm kinda curious about the Runner ...it's a 15? Or new ? And what are they asking for it ?

A while back the wife, thought it would be cool for her to have the matching 4Runner to my Tacoma. Well, shortly after that, we came across the inferno 2015 pro T4R. So we drove down to Toyota of Newnan (GA), to take a look. I'm fully convinced Newnan, GA must have a serious problem with meth, after what I saw that they wanted for this 2015 T4R, and later sitting down to talk numbers with them. This T4R had close to 36000 miles on it, several body blemishes, scruffs on the dash board and other cosmetic stuff. They were asking 45900. We sat down to discuss numbers after a test drive and learned that this dealership was the original dealer that sold it the first time. Which tells you, they knew how much they sold it for the first time around. These guys were unwilling to budge. all in all they came down $400 on the price, which is laughable. I told them that they knew they had more room to give and told them, that when I bought my tacoma I had also looked at the 4Runner pro and they were going for 42k tops new. My logic didn't prevail. 2 days later my wife saw a brand new T4R offroad in Barcelona red(red is her favorite color), and that dealership made it impossible to walk away. My wife got the T4R that made her eye sparkle for a whole lot less and they even switched her seats out to leather for no additional charge.

Moral of the story is that the 2015 4runner pros in inferno are out there but hard to come by. Be ready to drop some cash if you intend to walk away with one.

The sad part is our 2015 pro's have the worst resale value out of the trio even though technically ours are the most limited.

Used tundra/t4r pros have asking prices of atleast the original msrp(around here), yet most dealers have their tacomas listed the same or a couple grand more than regular tacomas.

 

It’s a 15, the inferno only was made for the one year. The price chaps my ass in that they are asking 43900...it’s only got 19 thousand miles however the new one in Indy I was gonna pick up I had a deal for 42 out the door....I told them over the phone when I called on it when they want to lower the price call me....we’ll see where it goes...

 

Crank. I haven’t dynoed it yet.....I’m going off a Tacoma with the exact same mods that had theirs dynoed from another site.

Nice! Impressive either way! Which pulley and headers are you running? And do you have the trd tune? Im thinking about supercharging my 6speed in the next few months. Should make it a blast to drive

 

You’ll love it....it’s not gonna make it a corvette, but it will absolutely make it very noticeably faster. There is nothing like that whine. I added the 2.825 red URD pulley. I’d suggest that or the 2.85 stealth. Mine is technically a tad smaller thus producing a title bit more boost/hp. I read that between the 2 it’s not noticeable. I honestly liked the red anodize lol. The motor is paired with Doug Thorley shorties & high flow cats, URD y-pipe which is 3”, URD Mark lll exhaust 3” and a AFE pro dry s CAI. It is on a TRD tune. Dealers still do them from what I’ve seen. I’d go with it if you can source a dealer.
I wanted to do URD headers but that would’ve eliminated my front cats making me completely cat less. I really did not want to go with o2 sims because I read too many horror stories associated with them. I wanted this to be a reliable build.

 

.....and don’t forget the fuel pump, I did a walbro 2.55. There are many debates on here about their necessity. Most say do it.....it’s cheap insurance. My last thing would be a high performance URD clutch and throw out bearing.

 

The other truck was a 2015 TRD OR 2wd certified by Toyota.....with 33,267 miles for $27,937 FIRM.....at Autonation Buena Park CA...they won't budge on the price..AT ALL.....so I bought my 2015 TRD Pro with 22,232 miles.....it was listed for $32,475.....I paid $31,000 plus tax, license, etc.

Thanks for all the good info! Ive been looking into most of the things you mentioned. Did you go stage 2 or 3 urd clutch? Ive been leaning towards the 3 since theyre the same price and i figured i can deal with the difference in clutch feel even though its my daily driver. Also, my last question i promise.. did you go with the hydro throwout bearing??

 

Yep!....my first 4wd to boot....all my other Tacomas were all TRD OR but all 2wd.....plus.....I love the growl of the TRD cat back exhaust on the PRO!

 

No man ask away....I don’t mind at all, that’s what this site is for and that’s how I learned. I haven’t done the clutch yet. It’s my last thing I’d do. I’ve narrowed it down to the URD stage 3 with the flywheel and ARP bolt upgrade. The throw out bearing I’ll play by ear but more than likely will just probably do the hydro. I don’t mind spending the extra dough.

 

Thanks again man! Ive been thinking ill go with a lightweight flywheel and a stage 3 w/ the hydro bearing since i rarely do any towing. Should make for a fun daily driver, itll just take some getting used to

 

Yeah no doubt, it won’t be like driving our butter clutches for sure. Lol. Oh also, a must is the TRD short shifter. That completely changes the feel of driving the 6 spd.

 

Yeah ive been back and forth on whether or not i should install a short shifter. Reliability is a big thing for me as well and i think ive read a couple threads about the short shifter causing problems and making it harder to get into reverse. Have you had any of these types of problems or has it been smooth sailing for you?
