Well, I didn't want to pay the price for a topper that I would use 2 or 3 times a year at most, so I made one.

Base is made of wood with the skeleton made from 3/4 pvc with some 1/2 pvc for some stability bars and such.

I lucked up and found a patio table and chairs cover at a discount store that was plenty big for this project. I looked at reviews online and gathered all my research and engineering thoughts and came up with this.

    $39 for canvas
$60 ish for the pvc (got some good deals on Craigslist for 3/4 of the pvc)
    $20 in velcro
$15 in wood (already had all the wood)
$10 in brackets (already had the brackets)
$10 in t handles (already had for other uses, though not shown in the pics)

All in all I have about $120 and a couple of Saturdays time worth in it.

Here is the canvas I bought at a discount store for $37.

    https://www.amazon.com/Classic-Acce...&keywords=ravenna+patio+furniture+covers&th=1

Here are more pics and pics of the brackets I used to secure it.

The brackets are 2x4 brackets that I trimmed to work for this. T handles go through the bracket and the 2x4 insert. I used adhesive velcro ($20 for 20') on the canvas to adhere it to the bottom of the main wooden base as well as wrapping the canvas around the door opening.

I mounted it and yanked on it and it seemed very solid. I put my go pro in there and will be having my wife watch it on the tablet to see what kind of wiggle and flapping I get from the wind/drag.

I'll sell you mine for $1500.

    Of course, I think they're $800 new.

I'm not sure but based on the dimension I measured, I would say medium.

Just curious. Your corner pieces. Did you buy them like that or cut a hole for the other pieces to fit in?

Are you talking about the PVC corner pieces? If so, I bought 3 way connectors and heated them up to make the angles.

Also an update, I took it this weekend on a camping trip. It held up great at highway speeds, didn't move and didn't leak (but a few drips at the corners where it meets the bed) during a torrential downpour for 15 or so minutes on the interstate (slowed down to 55 to 60).

How much did you have to trim to get yours to fit. I like how nice an tight it looks. I have a long bed. Hoping you cut it down some or I’m not sure that medium will fit!

I cut a good bit off of it. long bed = 1 extra foot... I know I trimmed at least a foot off of the side where the back window is.
