I love the wheels and tires. Steel wheels that protect the valve stem. Can't go wrong. Plus skinny tires that don't rub on any thing and have great traction in the desert. Looks funny Mabe but trouble free and cheep to replace.

can't argue with that at all.

I'm biased. I like big wide tires. Love the ride offroad aired down compared to skinny tires. But i like my skinnies though mine rub a bit(255/80r17) due to height but hardly ever. They are a good all around type of tire for sure. I only curse them when im in the dirt for a long time because i like fat tires for that.

And with enough hammering and cutting nothing rubs! :cookiemonster:

I think its the offset of the 2nd gen wheels that mostly make it humorous to me on your rig.

    Dig the truck though!

I really really wanted to do the 235/85/16 just to go a bit taller. But I was afraid with armor I would have had rub issues. I did lose about an inch with all that stuff on the truck.

Next time it needs tires I'll try to fill the wheel wells just a bit more. Keeping the wheels though. There going into paint this week.

What do you want to do on yours?
I love the coating on mine. I've washed it once since I had it done and the dirt and mud does not stick. It is a bit fragile in some places so make sure you go thick in the corners and places that get rick chips.

A couple weeks ago someone posted a link to some frame stiffeners/ frame replacement pieces that could be bought for the whole frame. Anyone got a link? I thought I saved it and I also tried to google but nooo luck.

Front Range Offroad makes frame plates. So does CBI.

TG makes a frame boxing kit.

Been looking into adding in an auxiliary fuse box for the list of accessories I plan on adding to the truck. Learning quickly wiring is definitely not my specialty and not something you want to screw up, seen too many electrical fires from bad wiring.

I like the feel of wide tires too. The 255's that came on my first gen felt like I was driving a wagon, but I know they have their benefits - proper speed goes a long way in not getting into bad issues no matter what the tire. Not that anyone on here didn't know that already.

    In other news:

No more waiting. Let's start putting my truck back together (well, I'll start putting my truck back together lol) :)

If anyone is looking at getting these, try here - I got them for $667 with free shipping - you might get them for less if they accept your offer.

    Today I drove my Tacoma!
Friday night she got a new radiator and thermostat. Today was a good test in the desert.

Started out moving quick on dirt roads, then slowed down and crept back to a couple spots. Ac on, temps never went over 185 degrees, used to be like 204 just driving to store. Glad that's fixed. Now for steering rack...

It's like being in a wrestling match under there! My roommate works for a tobacco company and has a bunch of signs they put in convenient stores that are made of plastic "cardboard." I put a few under the truck when I'm upside down and it makes a huge difference. I can slide around really easily and it cushions as much of not more as cardboard. That said it still is a rough position to work in on the ol' arms n' neck. Awesome work!

You've got some selfie game sir. J/k I like that pic!

Love your truck - that's exactly what I'd like to do with mine! Awesome pics. What's up with the steering rack?
