Suspension Options

Since I bought my tacoma about a year and a half ago I've thought about adjustable 5100's in the front. So recently I've noticed how saggy my rear leafs are and I decided that I think I'm going to replace them. I'm questioning if I'm going to do all 4 corners of the suspension, whats my best option for replacement? what is out there that is going to give me the best value? do I just get stock replacement leafs from general and 5100 struts or can I get a better kit for relatively around the same money? I wouldn't mind 2" inches of lift or so. I might also add that I have a mid height camper shell on the bed with a sleeping platform that stays in the back as well. I would say the sleeping platform it equivalent to the weight of about 1-1/2 to 2 sheets of 3/4" sanded plywood as well as conservatively about 50 pounds (on the heavy side) of miscellaneous gear and tools I keep in the truck for obvious reasons. So whats gonna give me what I need hear for the best price? I'm going to post pics of my rear springs so you can see.

My bad it’s a 4x4, sits kinda low for a 4x4 then again it can be the camera angle and what’s in the bed

 

Its not the camera angle. the camera was at a height of about halfway up the door for reference. maybe a tad lower than the top of the rear wheel well. As to whats in the bed?

Wow, low milage and rust free looking did you get it in the west coast ?

 

Nope bought it from a guy in NJ who was the original owner. Bought it with about 115k on it and still currently in NJ. He did have it undercoated under factory recommendation for the frame warranty extension but it doesn't seem bad at all. some things like the exhaust aren't the greatest but that can bet dealt with.

 

That’s a gem for an east coast truck most look like Swiss cheese (frame) due to salt on the roads

Your options are pretty good for what you're looking for - check out wheeler's offroad, all-pro offroad, headstrong offroad, toytec lifts, and downsouth motorsports.

 

yeah I jumped on it pretty quick when I found it and it seemed solid. I was very specific in what I was looking for (4x4, auto, ext cab) and it was either a very good condition or new frame. this met the criteria so I jumped. might have paid a little extra but I was looking for a while and this was the best specimen.

 

HA! tell me about it. Pretty classy right? I checked out all pro and toytec but I don't really know what is necessary for me. I'll check out the others too.

How much do you want to spend is the real limiting factor.

 

yeah I paid 9,100 for it with 115k all original. so I didn't do too bad. so far I've done the tundra brake upgrade, deck plate mod, I put the cap on, just installed a new exhaust, I'm in the process of painting my wheels, and some other odds and ends that I'm sure I'm missing.

 

Call up a few places and get a consensus - all those places are legit businesses.

 

Welcome to this world we have called modding before you know it, the truck will have a 6 inch lift and nothing will be stock on it lol

 

well let me put it this way, its not really about the money but I'm not really willing to throw money at it that is going to be a waste. I just need whats going to be good for my purposes, however if it can be justified with good reason to go above and beyond I will consider it.
