Valid point. I do not have a 2nd gen..so I'm kinda guessing on the clearance needed for the New switchback bulb..

Resistor to step down brightness of added led parking light strip?

 

Precisely. The parking light led strip will be on a dual control PWM. They will be dim(~60%) for running lights, but will still illuminate to full brightness(100%) when brakes are applied.( Along with the factory brake LEDS.) if that makes sense...

I will also be making some custom LED sidemarkers for side visibility at night. The stock has 1 single light that shines behind the reflector. Weaksauce..

After bench testing the running lights along side the brake, I've decided not to put them on a dimmer. Although they're just as bright as the OEM Brake LED's.. the difference is the stock shine through optics(aka little magnifying glass) which increases their intensity much more. Whereas These shine inward, then back to you indirectly.

How did you get the clean cuts? this is crazy because I've been looking at doing this exact same thing to my tail lights except keeping the chrome. I have been looking at the LEDS for the half halo too. What did you wind up using?

I'm so excited to see someone doing this before me maybe i can learn from your mistakes.

I Cut them open with a dremel and thin cutoff wheel. Be careful, there isn't much margin of error...
