I fell off in a hole which ended up being deeper than expected. Anyway I sat in the hole bottomed out for a while with the truck idling with 3 inches of water in the floor board. I know the motor is good and my breathers are extend so high it's an overkill but the transmission is trying to slip now I haven't driven it maybe 5 miles home and I was babying it. Anything helps it's a 99 auto

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Have you checked the transmission fluid yet? What color is it?

tranny is done and will need a rebuild soon

auto tranny has a breather of it's own, did you extend that one ?

anyhow ...you may be able to get a year out of that tranny with a 45 quart power flush. on a machine that has positive input and output pumping

-15 quarts flush, then run for 10 minutes idling foot on brake, shift through gears
-another 15 quarts flush, repeat moving through gears
-now flush one more time with 15 quarts new ATF.

that should get any remaining water out but won't fix the fact all clutches
and friction bands on the tranny are doomed to decay and fall apart and clog things up. as soon as they see water they soak it up and now the adhesive
starts to break down. this cannot be flushed out. has to be replaced.

ON a good day with the friend of a friend discount, a full rebuild will be 1700 bucks but more likely 2300 or more

clutches, bands, o-rings, all seals and torque converter. while they are at it, and if you do it, why not have them sandblast and powercoat the tranny shell since it
all has to come apart anyway, may as well (did this to my 4runner tranny looked showroom afterward)

Yea I've found a used one already with 180k but I bought this truck for really cheap so I could honestly get my money back with a bad trans or if I can atleast keep it moving in limp mode for a little while that'd be great it isn't my daily so I guess I'll flush it an see what happens

    tip

if you are in D and come to a stop, and apply gas to go and it sits there,
try manually moving shifter to 1 (or it may end up moving but taking minutes to happen...then a sudden THUD)

1st gear shift position forces 1st gear
whereas in D and hoping for 1...requires tranny logic to be working and this is
often broken or slowed way down when you get water damage messing up the guts

    when mine started to go
(mine was radiator intercooler failure and that got into tranny)

    after 45 quart flush...
everything was fine for a while (almost a year) but coming off highway at 70 mph, and down
an offramp, to a stop....it would not go to 1. I would sit there in N trying to go,
cars behind me waiting, then BOOM, 1st.

that just got worse and worse over a month till I figured out moving to 1st manually
solved it, but I had to take it in for a complete rebuild anyhow

do you mean drain it ? pulling the plug you only drain one fifth of the fluid. the only way to replace
all of it is do what you are doing about 10+ times in a row, or get it on a machine that can force atf through

Try the flush first. Get the cheapest Dex/Merc ATF and run a bunch of quarts through like was suggested above. Finish the job with an ATF you want to run in your transmission. People have survived the pink milkshake and gotten a lot of life out of their transmission and hopefully you can do the same.

Here's a video you can use for the flush:

If you end up having the replace the transmission, use the following video series. I just provided the first of three videos but there's links to the second and third videos at the end.
