Sadly, the better option would have been to let the other driver hit you. By trying to avoid their crappy driving, you saved them and put all the financial responsibility on yourself.

I know it doesn’t make sense or is fair, but that is what I went through in the past.

My hood and foglights and grill are not damaged like yours. I'm guessing its going to be less than your 6500

Yeah next time just run into the idiot driver who cut in front of you and let their insurance pay for it. Even if they didn't have insurance, at least you should have uninsured motorist coverage and hopefully the rate wouldn't go up.

Of course, insurance companies like to raise rates for no reason anyway.

In 2009 I had two accidents which raised my annual premium with AAA $500 each accident(2 cars, 2 drivers with perfect record, $1300 full coverage annually. I think your agent is wrong about $100 a year.

i see hood damage though. so that would add to it.

Funny I was saying that cause I thought people would say i'm crazy for saying $6k hahaha. But at first I thought maybe.
    Figure whats a bumper? $1800?
    fender, $800?
    headlight, $400?

$3000 in parts, paint, labour etc. You're right definitely over $2500

    Probably $2500 in labour hahaha

I hope that won't be the case for me! Did your accidents involve other cars?

Just hitting her would not have been good either. A parking lot isn't a place where cops ticket for traffic violations so then it is each others word. Chances are she may have went wide but the OP was going too fast to stop so both are wrong (seriously going a few mph down a lane would only need a few feet to stop in plenty of time as opposed to hitting a pole and doing that much damage).

A few years ago my dad got backed in to in a parking lot (truck rolled back), cops couldn't traffic ticket because it was a parking lot, the two insurance companies went back and forth and just had each pay for their own vehicle...

Either way, sucks, but part of the reason to go slow through parking lots.

I was going about 5 miles an hour because I was looking for a spot to park. I was going to take a left hand turn and she was taking a right hand turn. She went wide and I had to avoid her on my turn and I hit the pole. You can see the base of the pole on the left hand side of my picture near the rear passenger tire.

I'd be more pissed about the Carfax it's gonna have on it now especially if your planning on ever trading it in within the next few years.

I thought CarFax was only reported when there is a police report. Correct me if I am wrong.

Yeah, I once did a stupid thing with my 2nd gen. Hit a pole...Total was over 5K
Cost me about $30/month on my policy. Luckily it didn't get the drivers door. Needed to have a new fender support bracket welded in. Crumple zones, gotta love them.

Probably gonna sound like Captain Obvious here, but have you thought about asking the shop how long it will take? Pretty certain they can give you an estimate too, assuming you'd want to know.
I hit a deer last week on my way to Oregon and it clobbered the driver's side front end. The only one's who will know how long it will take and how much it will cost is the repair shop.

Well the parts might not be a readily to get as the older tacos, so they might not exactly know when they will finish.

I vote save the insurance claim, and replace with wide offroad fiberglass fenders, lift, tires, spacers, metal bumper, etc...

Easy reason to spend money and upgrade your ride!
