As someone that had a 2006 prerunner. The locker is standard on all TRD OR models. To tell the difference it would also come with the tow package, the seats would be the grey sport seats, Bilstein 4600's and a few other things as well that I can't remember.

My 2006, the Prerunner emblem was on the tailgate. That was a sign it was a TRD model to differencate from a 4x4 model. I think at some point they started putting the Prerunner emblem on the SR5 package as well as I have scene several 2nd gens around. Now, the base model never did have a Prerunner emblem on it. I think starting in 2012 they stopped putting the SR5 emblem on the tailgate of the trucks that were a TRD model since my 12 doesn't have it, but is a TRD model.

Now, in theory, it could be custom ordered truck, but the chances of someone not wanting the e locker is unusual.

My guess is someone bought a SR5 and put the TRD OR stickers on it.

It should have Traction control though. I think 12 is when then implemented that as a standard too.

 

It's also easy to get the Prerunner Emblem. I've got mine from the old truck. I was going to stick it on the tailgate to make people do a double take.

The seats and stock elocker are going to be the biggest parts of the truck that cost the most to replace and make it seem like a Prerunner.

Oh, fog lights are standard on the TRD models too.

But if it has all the signs of a Prunner except for the locker, then it's definitely a custom ordered truck.

 

This is what my buddy got and if your room is square/rectangle then it works awesome. He's running a Xbox One S into the soundbar, then HDMI ARC to the TV and it pass HDCP2.2 4k no problems.

Here's what I found just by doing a search of 2012 Tacoma Preruner.

 

Just confirmed with Toyota that it's a sr5 pre runner with the premium package. It was advertised as a trd offroad. He's looking for the paperwork now from the dealer to see what they sold it as. Thanks for all the replies guys. Confirmed everything I believed and he's getting ready to go back to the heep dealership with these facts.

Mine was a TRD Sport... no E-Locker. Has gears and Harop Elocker now.

 

So, either the Heep dealership put the TRD decals on or someone that owned it before did.

 

Sports never had the locker. They had the Mechanical LSD.

Exactly, it could be the dealership doing the 'ol bait and switch deal. When he finds his purchase paperwork he should have some good ammo to go after them depending on how they listed it.

 

Sometimes I wonder if some users can even use their microwaves at home.....
