So if I go with the 5 pack, will i have to replace my shock absorbers as well, since there will be new height difference? I also have a cap and hitch that I use often. I was thinking of getting OME or Billies but can't afford the 5 pack and shocks all at once.

Go ahead and start...we'll check in with you in a few days and see how much progress you've made.

Just curious why this group buy is not listed on the home page? That would keep this in a more visible area and Scocar could stop adding to his post count with nothing but "bumps". Tacomaman06 do you have the power to help us out?

i can sticky the thread for now...until the gb is over.....but no real way to keep it on the home page..........as threads get "bumped" or added...it can get buried like any other thread. i'll sticky it in the first gen section....gonna move it now.

Well, I might be interested... I want my truck to go back to stock height. I have a 1997 which is different than a 1998. So will these work? You have them lumped into 1995-2000 which is not correct. It should be 1995.5-1997 1998- ?

If I want stock height which one do I order and what exactly do these come with? Bushings? U or Eye bolts? Nuts? etc... I need more information than whats on here

the group buy is just for the leaf packs - all other hardware is extra. At least that is what is was in the beginning, Scocar correct me if I'm wrong here.
To stay at stock height you would want to go with the 4-pack.

Hi folks - I may be adding my name to this list but I am just starting to research what I need to do to my 2000 Tacoma. In fact I just joined this website the other day hoping to "figure it out." So I suppose a hello is in order first.

    Hello.

Ok, that's out of the way. I could use some advice and I have been devouring the forums looking for answers. And I think I have a few issues figured out but this is my first post so I'll ask what you think. I have a 2000 Tacoma V6 Prerunner with the original shocks. They are definitely needing to be replaced as my ride is anything but smooth. Sounds like they could have been replaced ages ago but hey, I'm slow to the game here.

From what I read the Bilstein 5100's all the way around are the way to go. But I hadn't considered leaf spring replacements. When looking at the back end of the truck it is definitely lower on one side. I read this was common in older tacos. Is this where new leafs factor in? And don't tell me yes just to get your discount :) I was hoping to get by with just replacing shocks since the tax man is about to crush me. But the credit card is fresh - I just hate using it.

Should I be considering coils as well? I really just need a smoother ride - and my wife agrees. Being a 2wd it goes without saying that I keep this taco on the road most times - an occasional forest service / logging road when camping. So I really don't need to go crazy but I want to do this right the first time.

    Cheers! Kevin

    getting there....
welcome to tw. the leaf sag on older tacomas is a common problem with the first gens. you could add an aal(add a leaf), but thats not really gonna take care of the prob, especially since they are most likely done for. how many miles are on your truck? in replacing the leafs......you'll gain back your stock height with the 4 pack, but you'll gain a lil extra with the 5 pack. i,myself, like the 5100's very much. my whole suspension was shot, so i replaced everything.......and i went with the 5 pack rear leafs. i also went with ome 881 coils, so as to even it out. my truck is completely level now and rides great.

basically...if you want to keep your stock height...go with the 4 pack leafs from wheelers......want a lil lift...go with the 5 pack. with the 5 pack and stock front coils.....you'll have a bit of a rake, but you may like it that way.

as for 5100's......great shock.......a bit stiffer than the ome shocks, but they ride great and are adjustable. you can use them with the 5 pack leaves...set them on the mid setting and call it a day.:)
