On your old arm?? File the mushroom off the end of the bolt (the one you beat on there), then seat it back into the upper spindle with a bfh, then remove castle, the pop.it out of the spindle seat again

Ahh, yes 1st gen is inverted from 2nd. So the UBJ has a tepered shaft that seats into your 1st gen UCA. Re-seat it. Hammer from the bottom, then tighten the castle nut, not TOO tight. Clean up the end of the bolt, fully remove castle nut, hammer the UBJ bolt out of the UCA. Drink a beer.

 

Fixed. Not your way but a way nonetheless. Beer.

Chop the front of the frame off, build a new one out of square tube and put a solid axle under it. There problem fixed!!!

 

Well, I guess that would work.

 

1st gen tacoma over 2nd gen for trail riding all day. A first gen can be made wider, a 2nd gen can't be made thinner. 1st gen is lighter and has a shorter wheel base, both of which are advantages. I don't need 187 years of wheeling experience to have learned where my trucks limitations are and mod for mod, a 1st gen out wheels me on the trails. Wanna tell me i need driver mod? Come try and drive my truck better then me.

But Carter what I did was take the castle nut off and then used a pitman puller and pushed the UBJ out, worked fairly well

You're talking about using the puller to separate the joint from the UCA? I was able to pop it loose with a BFH.

Were you able to separate the balljoint from the spindle with the pitman puller? What did you use to seat the uniball slug into the spindle?

 

Yeah I meant the UBJ from the spindle, just one of these from Vatozone plus them being in the freezer they went in pretty easy
