Sorry if this has been asked, but I couldn't find an answer.

Will the TRD Pro Skid Plate fit with my Toytec 1" diff drop?
Drop came with two spacers, will I need more?

You'll probably just have to try it and see. You'll get flamed like crazy for doing anything to your TRD Pro Tacoma on this forum.

I'm rather curious as to why a dif drop would be needed.

I have a 2017 Limited and bought the TRD skidplate before I lifted my truck. I didn't use the Toytec lift, but I did use a different brand lift that included the 1" diff drop and it after the lift was done, the skid plate went right back on with no issues.

Not necessary, but recommended for 3" lift to protect CV boots.

I can answer this one. I used the ToyTec Diff Drop and I posted a thread on what I had to do. Basically I added aluminum spacers and longer bolts and sort of sloped it in. If you don't slope it, it looks funny in the front like a snow shoe. I'll find the thread and post the link.

Yes but at the expense of your driveline angle and if that or something in the front diff breaks it is much more of a headache than replacing CV axles. I recommend you do more research into the cons of a diff drop. I personally would never put that on my truck and I have a lifted 4x4 also. The diff drop really just rotates your diff down and the "drop" is much greater on your driveshaft side than the CV side which is why I think they're stupid. But hey, your truck and just my $0.02

Lol, seriously?? Not that I'm a fan of diff drops as stated above but would it be far fetched to say that guy had it coming?
He was racing his truck for one but worse his skid plate design was absolutely horrendous. Like who the fuck thought that was a good idea?

Edit: I did read over that thread before though and it does have some good information on why diff drops are shit but you're gonna have to suffer thru a lot of crap to get to it

I did a 3" lift on my 17 LTD. When I researched it, there were about the same number of people that had done it with the diff drop and without. I had decided that I wouldn't mess with it, but the more I messed with the lift, the more I realized it didn't seem all that bad. The drive angle changes only marginally. There is some other type of constant velocity joint in that front shaft that I figured would experience much less stress with a 1" drop in the angle than the change in angle on the CV joints in the front axles. Let's all be clear.... when we decide to lift our trucks, we know that the drivetrain could wear out faster. I just figured that this was the best scenario to get the most life out of it. I have about 20k miles on mine since I lifted it and I have had no issues WITH the lowering the diff 1".

    Agreed.

But, I keep it in my arsenal of quick links for when the thread comes around. Also in my proverbial quiver, why spacer lift kits are bad and why wheel spacers are bad.

It doesnt lower the Diff. It rotates one side down a miniscule amount. It doesn't help in any way that makes it worth messing with

Absolutely. It's just 2 crappy spacers. You will see how it works and how it doesn't actually drop the Diff when you remove them. Really easy to do, just 2 bolts

When I remove the skid I'll definitely look. Would I need shorter OEM bolts to remove it?

I'm not sure what it does to a gen2 Tacoma, but I installed my lift and it absolutely does lower the whole diff. It does not just rotate it.
