So....driving along in the fog, minding my own business... About 40 mph on a country road....when the biggest deer I've ever seen steps in front of me and stops.

I pound the brakes. Wet road.... Anti lock brakes did their thing. The truck stops about 3 foot short of "grilled venison" .

Then it steps off the road. I sat there a minute. Geeeeze.

Should've hit it. Then you'd have a real reason for the new grille.

And I'd cook you as much as you wanted at Harlan!

Thanks for sharing this experience. I also really like birds, not as much as you, since you are passionnate, and I am only an enthusiam. Gf bought me a book of birds of my province. I really like it and take a look at it every now and then to identify some birds I saw in my day. I like to know what kind lives around us. Same thing about other animals. The nature around us is something very inspiring!
 been close to test your bumper! Glad you didn't tho!

While it was still raining last night, I swung by the car wash. Saturday night, while we were releasing the owl, I drove through a creek bed. Mudded the right side down pretty good. Thought was while it was wet, it would wash off easier. When I got to the car wash, local teenie-bopper 4wd group was there, getting ready to go play in the mud. 4 Jeeps, a ford Ranger, 2 Nissan Xterra's....all on what appeared to be stock tires....and not a winch amongst them. We had almost 4" of rain in 36 hours. I'd imagine it would have been easy to get stuck

I got invited to go with 'em. I have 2 grand kids older than some of 'em. I elected to go home and go to sleep. I wonder how their run turned out.

And now for something completely different...

Storer Cable/Insight Cable/Time Warner/Spectrum/insert new name here Cable company here, unannounced, for the 6th time in 8 weeks to fix TV issues that were reported IN MARCH. They ask ME what needs to be changed to make em work.

I was sorta hoping they could figure it out.

    Morons.

    I see morons

Definitely their job to make it work

I love it when I'm smarter than my cable guy. I'm really not any more smart than them, I just know what not to do.

    Oh, you mean at work.

Yea, it's a business. Should have multiple lines for tv and internet. Gotta have backups on your backups.

I could really spend some money there for the club

"House Committee" meeting this morning. Word is asshat is gunning for me. He's gathered a few of his supporters to express their displeasure with how we continually get farther and farther behind in maintaining the facilities. I have less manpower than I did 28 years ago, my operating budget is less than it was 20 years ago, and we have become his personal errand boys. I'm going to tell them things he doesn't want to hear. At that point, he is supposedly going after my job. Hope so. He can have it.

After that, we have a meeting with all the management, and the club president. He want's to speak with each one of us privately. I have a few things to tell him. He's on "our" side. This will be an interesting day. May or may not have a job once it's over. Lawyer's phone # on speed dial.

Soon. The person retiring from that position leaves Jan 1st. They want his replacement to overlap by at least a month....So....mid to end of November.

I have to pass a medical exam, which MAY be a problem. I don't freekin' care at this point. I've had it with this place. Great job, just the asshole I get to call boss. After I speak with current Prez and vice prez, we'll see just where this goes. They hate asshat too. Time for them to step up. I really like my job, just not the current manager. If they get rid of him, I'd stay.

Moe Rons in front of me. Chrysler minivan vs Jeep XJ. Rubbin paint @ 65 mph in a curve on an interstate exit ramp in the rain.

    They went to guardrail...
I got past... Semi behind me not so lucky.

    Home now.

Sounds like traffic is out to get you, or someone is watching you, lately.
