Thanks! They're good but I wouldn't go any higher than I am now...the fins are just a hair apart in some angles. Going to keep a close eye on them

And yet, still stronger than 4runner LBJs.

Is it just added stress that wrecks these suckers? Like running 33s and a 3" lift?
Cause I would expect that. But from what I gather, you are saying not only are they a weak design, but some were defects from factory, while all the others failed prematurely because of added stress. And others still for no good reason? Just curious. Asking for a friend:anonymous:

    ALL OF THEM!...Then some more.

    2 major flaws in design.

1 is that the bolts are upside down. so if them come loose they fall straight out.

Second is the joint itself. The ball is on the bottom and due the the design of it its constantly being pushed in and pulled out by the suspension causing wear on the cup. This is why its a good idea to swap them out every 50-100k depending on your driving and abuse on them. OEM only though.

If you're doing a bunch of other maintenance, not bad, about a day. Removing the radiator makes it much easier

removing the radiator def makes it easier. and yes, it does take a couple of days if you've never done it before but any experience you had with changing timing belts on other cars should help here too. I just had a bunch of bolts snap and additional parts needed. I think after the transmission cooler install plus drain and fill would give me some satisfaction for a decent road trip.

I had the front lifted about 2" with my previous setup and the angles were still good; no rubbing at all

It did take me 2 days but that's cause I was being an idiot and fighting the tensioner when I could've just backed off the bolts. On mine even with the tensioner pinned there still wasn't enough slack, and it took me far too long to realise a simple fix.

Anyone good with electrical? For my 4x4 PreRunner conversion I'm trying to be extra and utilize the 4HI/4LO/Neutral detection switches on the transfer case and wire them up to unused dash lights, specifically the RR DIFF LOCK and ABS lights as well as tapping the BRAKE light for transfer neutral.

Can anyone spot anything wrong? I'm planning on having a custom transparency printed for the 4 HI and 4 LO lights.

So for example if the truck is in 4 HI or 4 LO, the 4WD symbol as well as the 4 HI symbol will both light up. If the truck is in transfer neutral the BRAKE light would light up.

seems like a lot of work for something that just a glance down at the shifter will tell you or just touching the shifter would..

But yes, just tapping the 12v and sending it to the lights would work just fine.

I'm at 3" with the Kings. Seems to vary by individual setups but I think most people running 2" of lift or less don't run into CV angle issues.
