Do you need a bed? Of want the extra power of a v8? And do you want to start over?

I'm too lazy to go through trying to sell mine. I wouldn't get as much as I wanted and so if/when I start over, it'd be out of pocket, not out of selling money. That's my one real hesitation. Seeing as yours is newer and has more value, you'd start off with a healthy amount of mod money. If I were in that situation, with a fault driver too, I'd probably sell it and buy a project vehicle/more of a designated wheeler

I disagree with Danny. I would trust the dependability of a 2005-2006 Tundra over your 5th gen haha. Too much tech in the 4Runners that I don’t trust. Get a 1st gen Tundra. You won’t regret it.

    You rang....

I have zero regrets going from my built 3rd gen to my tundra but I also had different circumstances than you. I was having a second kid and knew I wouldn’t wheel enough to keep the 4runner. That being said you have the time to tinker and build the Tundra right now so might as well. Aftermarket sucks but brute force makes front bumpers and could make rears as well.

I would love to build mine up as the interior is spacious and super comfortable so I wouldn’t mind taking long trips in it. The bed is also big enough to work with as well. Lots of options there. Plus the rear electric window is awesome!

Yeah but not in a truck. So nice to open it and grab stuff from the bed. Especially camping in the bed and the camper shell. Makes it easy to grab stuff and I’ve always wanted to put a fridge back there on a platform so passengers can grab drinks while driving.

Well, my new to me Kings are on the way to Downsouth Motorsports for a rebuild. Getting the internal spacer taken out too so they’re extended length. Don’t have nitrogen, otherwise I’d do the rebuild myself and the price a local place wants for the recharge after I buy new seals and everything, isn’t worth doing myself.

What are they charging, if you don't mind sharing?

$125/shock. And that includes seals, oil, nitrogen, and labor. No upcharge for swapping springs or removing the internal spacer to make them extended.

If I needed new spring, $85/each.

$300+/shock in parts to make them resis if I went that route. Includes new top cap and body, plus resi parts (I.e. hoses, fittings).

Not adding resis as it’d be more efficient to just buy new coilovers all together for the cost of adding them. And I don’t really need them for the east coast, they’d just be a glam factor.

Also just picked this guy up from a rebuild shop. $85 parts and labor. Complete rebuild

That's not too bad, you got a great set of coilovers for dirt cheap. Alternator looks good too.

After selling my Icons, I should make it out on top. Been running them since March 2016 with less than 15,000 miles

I just mop it out with a rag and brake cleaner. Change the fluid at 500 miles and clean the magnet.

How do you like it, I know it’s only been like a day.

What did you pay if you don’t mine me asking. The wife wants me to get one for me to drive for a year or two then it can be hers.

I love it! I know I mostly drive in traffic, but when I’m not, it’s a blast.

I’m only at 350 miles so I haven’t brought the revs up above 3500. Waiting til it’s broken in to mess around with it more.

    I’ll pm you price.

Also, can you guys in SoCal be on the lookout for a 1st gen double cab tundra in good shape? Haha

    @SixthSnail

Can you honestly tell a difference in the performance of your King's vs. Icons? I know your set-ups were vastly different but still curious.

I could from the second I swapped them.

However, remember the icons were blown. I would have noticed a difference even if I just rebuilt or put 5100’s on.

I have heard better things about King’s reliability than Icon.

If I go through with getting a first gen tundra this year, I’m going ADS. They are the only ones who make a front and rear kit for the Tundra and it’s simple and good. 2.5 RR Clickers up front, 2.5 piggyback clicker rears.

ADS is on par with king for build quality and performance from everything I’ve seen.

Icon and King are two totally different types of valving remember, digressive vs. progressive and the main reason I fucking hate Icon.
Someone say ADS :D. ADS has the lowest internal tolerance than anyone else per DSM. They were a machine shop before they started making shocks haha. Good choice for sure. One of the guys there daily drives a 1st gen tundra.
